duh....kayaknya calendar event tahunan jakarta ini belom familiar ya ??
did u knows guys ???????????????????????????? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open The Enjoy Jakarta Indonesian Open is now in its fifth year with the Jakarta Tourism Board returning as the primary sponsor. This tournament is the result of a partnership between the Asian Tour and the Indonesian Golf Association that was introduced in 2003. The 2009 tournament offers a record prize purse of US$1,250,000.00, and will see a number of the world's best golfers from Europe and Asia battling for supremacy. The Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open will be held from February 26 to March 1 at the recently completed New Kuta Golf in Pecatu, Bali, overlooking the world-famous surfs of Balangan Bay. Director of Operations for New Kuta Golf, Mr. Suprapto Pegeng said: "As the venue for this prestigious tournament, we are delighted to attract such world-class players to our new resort and I am confident the players will enjoy our breath-taking views and challenging courses at Bali's first championship golf course." New Kuta Golf overlooks some of the best surfing breakers in Bali and is the island's first championship course with a par 72 and over 7500 yards from the championship tees. Designed by Golf Plan that consists of Ronald Fream, David Dale and Kevin Ramsey, New Kuta Golf is the first 'links style' course and recently was certified as the first environmentally friendly 'Laureate Golf Course' in Indonesia. Since 2005, the Indonesia Open has been a highly competitive tournament, thanks to the participation of international caliber players such as Felipe Aguilar (2008 Indonesia Open Champion), Mikko Ilonen (2007 champion), Simon Dyson (2006 champion) and Thaworn Wiratchant (2005 champion). The tournament is also Indonesia's sole sporting event that offers a total purse of over one million dollars or US$ 1,250,000 to be precise. Tickets are available at golf clubs in Jakarta and Bali and for more information, visitors can go to www.indonesia-open.com and will feature world class players who will once again compete in this prestigious event.

![]() Jakarta Ready to Welcome Manchester United Manchester United will visit Jakarta as part of their four-match Asia tour. Although they have visited Asia six times previously since 1995 and won the Club World Cup in Tokyo last month, they have never been to Indonesia, a country with a large United fan base in a population of 200 million. David Gill Manchester United Chief Executive said: “Our tours to Asia are always special. The atmosphere generated by the supporters is amazing. The Club enjoys unrivalled support across the continent and it is great to give those fans the opportunity to see their heroes in action in their own country. This tour takes in some new areas – with a game in Malaysia, where we haven’t played since 2001, and one in Indonesia, so it promises to provide some exciting new experiences.” The match in Jakarta against the Indonesia Super League Select will be played on July 24 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. An Indonesian version of the club magazine 'Inside United' will be launched this year and will join the existing Korean and traditional and simplified Chinese versions. Well, as a fan of Manchester United, me and all Jakartan will be very happy to host Manchester United and we are certain the fans will turn up to watch a world class team in action.

TRAVELLING TIPS AT JAKARTA
Passport and Visas Citizens of 11 countries will get the VISA FREE to visit Indonesia : Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Hongkong, Macau, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines and Vietnam. Citizens of 52 countries will be offered the facility VISA ON ARRIVAL, they are : Afrika Selatan, Amerika Serikat, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgia, Belanda, Brasilia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Emirat arab, Estonia, Finlandia, Hongaria, India, Inggris, Irlandia, Islandia, Italia, Jepang, Jerman, Kamboja, Kanada, Korea Selatan, Kuwait, Laos, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Maladewa, Malta, Meksiko, Mesir, Monaco, Norwegia, Oman, Perancis, Polandia, Portugal, Qatar, Republik Rakyat China, Rusia, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Spanyol, Suriname, Swedia, Swiss, Taiwan, Yunani. The procedure on the airport should not take more than 7 minutes. Indonesia will charge foreigners US$ 25 for a 30-day non renewable visa or US$ 10 for a 3-day visit upon arrival . Citizens of countries NOT on the "visa on arrival" or "visa free" lists will be required to apply for a visa before entering Indonesia. Airport Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is located approximately 26 km west of the city, or about a 20-minute drive to the heart of the business district where many of the major hotels are located. International flights come in and out of Terminal 2, while local flights use either Terminal 1 or 2. Soekarno-Hatta is serviced by 32 major international airlines. Travelers departing from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport are required to pay an airport tax of Rp. 100,000. For domestic travel, the tax is Rp. 25,000 payable at the check-in counter at the airport. Customs Custom allows a maximum of one liter of alcoholic beverage, and 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 100 grams of tobacco and reasonable amount of perfume per adult. There is no restriction on the import or export of foreign currencies, however the import or export of Indonesian currency is limited to Rp. 5 million. Moving About From Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, take a metered taxi located in front of the arrival terminal. An additional surcharge from the airport is Rp. 3,000, plus Rp. 8,000 for the tollroad. Within the city, standard taxis are easily gotten at hotels, major building or flagged down. Flagfall is Rp. 3,000 and Rp. 1,300 for each additional kilometer. The Damri airport bus departs every 30 minutes between 3 am and 10 pm. to Gambir Station and continues on to Blok M, Kemayoran and Rawamangun. It costs Rp. 15,000,- per person. Health Matters Jakarta is a tropical city, which should call for some precautions for newcomers. Bottled water, of which there are many quality brands, is highly recommended. Water from tap, even in the best of hotels, should not be use for drinking unless it is boiled for several minutes. Ice in drinks should not be a concern, because ice vendors in Jakarta operate under strict government guidelines. With hot tropical temperatures, sufficient liquid intake is extremely important to maintain good body balance. Care should be taken to avoid sunburn and exhaustion from too much exposure. Unless one is a "seasoned" traveler, it is best to eat at hotels or well-established restaurants. Traditional food stalls (warung) and street carts (kaki lima) are fun to experience, but should be avoided for those visiting the city for only a short time. International health certificates for smallpox, cholera and yellow fever are not required, except when arriving from infected areas. Weather Located in the tropical zone, Jakarta’s climate is hot and humid. The average temperatures range from 26ºCelcius at night and early morning to up to 30ºCelcius at noon. April to October is usually dry season in Jakarta, while November to March is wet season. However, even during dry season, one can expect occasional rains Electricity Outlets and voltage (220 volts). Small appliances such as hair dryers, irons, razors, etc. can be used in Indonesia. For those from other countries, adapters are required for electrical appliances. The frequency of electrical current in Indonesia is 50 Hz. Video System In Indonesia, the PAL-system is used for television broadcasts. This system is not compatible with the NTSC systems used in Europe and in many other countries. If you purchase a video cassette in Indonesia, ensure it is recorded in the appropriate system for your video playback machine. Language & ethnic groups Like the rest of Indonesia, the people of Jakarta speak the official language Bahasa Indonesia. However, Bahasa Indonesia in this city is heavily influenced by the dialect of Jakarta’s previously dominant ethnic group, Betawi. With rapid urbanization process in the city, the Betawi people have been pushed to Jakarta’s suburban areas. Current population of Jakarta consists of various ethnic groups from different parts of Indonesia, including Chinese, Arab and Indian descents in commercial areas. Rail and Waterway There are railways throughout Jakarta; however, they are judged as being inadequate for providing necessary transportation for the citizens of Jakarta. In peak hours, the number of passengers greatly exceeds capacity. The railroad tracks connect Jakarta to its neighboring regions: Depok and Bogor to the south, Tangerang and Serpong to the west, and Bekasi, Karawang, and Cikampek to the east. The major rail stations are Gambir, Jatinegara, Pasar Senen, Manggarai, Tanah Abang and Jakarta Kota. Two lines of the Jakarta Monorail are under construction: the green line serving Semanggi-Casablanca Road-Kuningan-Semanggi and the blue line serving Kampung Melayu-Casablanca Road-Tanah Abang-Roxy. In addition, there are plans for a two-line subway (MRT) system, with a north-south line between Kota and Lebak Bulus, with connections to both monorail lines; and an east-west line, which will connect with the north-south line at the Sawah Besar station. The current project, which began in 2005, has been halted due to a lack of funds and its future remains uncertain. On 6 June 2007, the city administration started to introduce the Waterway, a new river boat service along the Ciliwung river. The move aims to reduce the traffic snarls in Jakarta. On 30 November 2007, KRL(Commuter Train) Ciliwung Blue Line began operation. It serves Jakarta's circle line, which was used in the 80s. The fare price is Rp 5000,00. It serves Manggarai, Mampang, Karet, Jend. Sudirman Road, Duri, Angke, Kampung Bandan, Rajawali, Kemayoran, Pasar Senen, Gang Sentiong, Kramat, Pondok Jati, and Jatinegara. The train can supports 400 passengers. COMING SOON: Jakarta Great Sale 2009!
Jakarta Great Sale Targets Sales Turnover at IDR6.1 Trillion
29-JUN-09 JAKARTA: Jakarta Great Sale (JGS), an event offering 20%-70% discounts held nearly in all malls in Jakarta from July 18 through August 19, 2009, targets to record IDR6.1 trillion in sales turnover. Executive Chairperson of JGS Andreas Kartawinata revealed JGS was expected to bolster retail product sales transaction in Jakarta. "We hope JGS this year can meet the target," he informed in Jakarta last weekend. JGS will be organized simultaneously by involving all malls, shops, retailers, airlines, and hotels. In addition, JGS will be integrated with culinary festival, shopping tourism, late tourism, and recreational as well as entertainment locations. "Therefore, airlines, hotels, and tourism objects have been making promotions. Therefore, we are optimistic that JGS this year will be merrier than last year since nearly all tourism industries will be involved in the event." JGS will be launched officially at the courtyard of Hotel Indonesia by Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo. The opening show will also showcase fashion show and night lamp festival. Value of Money Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said the provincial government welcomed the event. According to him, JGS is a prestigious event to show Indonesian products and prove that the products sold at JGS are of the same quality with imported products. Therefore, Fauzi hoped the event could bolster Jakarta's economic growth and increased the rupiah value. "I hope the event can increase the value of money and also the economy as the whole." JGS is part of a series of events held to celebrate the 482nd anniversary of the city of Jakarta. The event is initiated by the Jakarta Tourism and Culture Sub-autonomous agency. Outside JGS, the sub-agency also organizes two other events, namely Jakarnaval and Enjoy Jakarta Food Festival. Andreas, who is also Chairperson of the Jakarta Indonesian Shopping Center Operators Association, disclosed the event would also involve small and medium-size enterprises, which cannot be expected to offer discounts as the product prices had already been cheap. According to him, the event organizer praised the Provincial Government of Jakarta's policy of cutting ad tax by 87.5% to widely promote Jakarta Festival Great Sale 2009. "Ideally, the ad tax should be entirely eliminated, just like the City Government of Surabaya did. It is because we have to make a lot of promotion, including overseas, to ensure the success of the annual event in Jakarta." (Bisnis/bsi/na)
