Unkown Vienna neighborhoods and residential architecture

Every tourist worth his salt knows world famous Schönbrunn castle, its magnificent park, and zoo. But very few ever venture into the adjacent residential neighborhoods of Vienna's Hietzing district. While certainly not a top priority for first-time visitors and quite a long way from the city center, the architecturally inclined traveler may be in for a few surprises.

We're still well within the city limits, but the area begins to feel more and more suburban. Single family houses now dominate the scene.

At the southwestern extremes of the district we reach Lainzer Tiergarten, a vast wildlife preserve and a paradise for joggers and hikers, as well as an oasis of serenity.

Graceful and cold! Interesting because they resemble the old movie scene.
