The mobile service providers are in for a trouble in the city. The Surat Municipal Corporation ( SMC) has directed the heads of municipal zones to act tough against mobile companies for illegally operating 170 mobile towers.

"Not a single mobile service provider has turned up in the last one week after notices were served for illegal operation of 170 mobile phone towers. However, we have asked the zonal chiefs of the seven municipal zones to take action against these mobile service providers," director of planning (DoP) J M Patel said.

Out of the 415 mobile phone towers erected in different parts of the city, about 170 towers are operating illegally without licences.

"The civic officers will fan out in the city after two days and will stop operations of the 170 mobile phone towers," a senior civic officer said.

Four Season - off Gaurav path road, Piplod, Surat. - Its the one which is said to be one of the most expensive luxurious tower overlooking Tapti river. The elevation is yet left so these pics arent as exciting for now.

Some info's.
Today i had been to VNSG University for some work, saw the stadium's approach road was being prepared from main university road, currently you have to go through the campus which is confusing, the road being made was wide & landscaping done was nice, also the stadium looked beautiful but commentator's bulding, VIP box, etc was being constructed.
Also, in the campus, on the main road, they are making a convention centre which is 90% complete, i dont know whether it will be made public or will be just for university use, it was'nt as grand as the one at GU's campus at A'bad but was decent, nice to see that atleast some part of SGU's land is being utilized for good purpose.

The initial developement and Growth of our Surat is hampered largely due to injustice of stat as well as Central Govt.in Providing International air facility at surat. Its also feasible to seeing it that Narendra Modi even has no interest in Surat, as he's busy developing A'bad. But it is miracle still Surat is growing rapiddly w/o help of stat.
Its now the urge need to raise voice and do Andolans against passive political bodies. Only this will affect those bad Govt.body.

The pics are awesome...but what about Rahul Raj Mall???I doubt whether it'll open this month also....the construction of The Imperial Square is so fast that i think it'll open even before Rahul Raj Mall would open....and is it true that Central Mall would even have a Multiplex?????

Hey guyz, I'm searching 4 some images of Lal Bhai contractor Cricket Stadium. Also I've heard that the stadium will be upgraded and Fund has been raised for the construction of pavilions ans floodlights. This would be affiliated to BCCI and host International matches also.
If anybody of u have latest info regarding international stadium, plz post it... thankz

LalBhai would never be converted to International stadium. Best it could do is to host day night matches of domestic odi or t20.

I guess, there is need of new world class stadium in Surat which should be located near dumus road where lot of empty space is there. Moreover, I saw that BRTS is going to be there so lots of benefits.

Now Surtis can get a panoramic view of their city.

The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) is planning to build view-towers at three locations in the city. The civic body has also made provisions for a token amount for the project, but the decision is still on paper. Interestingly, the officials had proposed a similar project in 2006, but the idea was dropped for reasons unknown.

The civic body has now planned the view-tower project on the model of towers seen in foreign countries. The planned 30-35 meters tower will be covered at the top. Apart from elevators, parking space and a fun zone, the tower will also house a mini cafeteria at the top.

To check the feasibility of the project, the standing committee has made a provision of Rs75 to Rs25 lakh each for three towers, in the new budget.

The civic body plans to develop view-towers at Ajadan, Varachha and Katargam. "For the successful implementation of the project, adequate land near the banks of river Tapi is required.

The original cost of the project will be much higher, but provisions have been made to meet the expenses of consultants and experts for the project. Once a blue-print of the project is ready, larger provision can be made in the budget," Mukesh Dalal, chairman of standing committee, said.

Dalal added that developing such tower will only provide for an added tourist attraction.

It is believed that the visitors will be charged an entry fee. And each person will get a maximum of 30 to 60 minutes on the top of the tower. The BJP feel that apart from being a value addition, such towers can also yield good income for the civic body. The idea of an observatory tower project with a height of 60 meter near Athwagate was mooted by the civic body in 2006.

Ultra-modern design and magnificent lighting along with a restaurant, parking space and elevators were planned for the tower. The then municipal commissioner Pankaj Joshi had even approved the project, but the standing committee did not find the project viable.

Surat Central (IRIS MALL) will commencing its operation till 10th March..n Cinemax will also be there in IRIS MALL with 3 screen multiplex...
RAHUL RAJ MALL will be start its operation around mid of april of dis year.....
n
another good news is that KINNARY MULTIPLEX which is now converted from single screen to 4 screen will be operational till end of dis month...

only god knows when this rahul raj will start its operation in surat.... because of them we are deprived of from watching 3D movies in surat.... just waiting for the PVR to start there operations... moreover while surfing through the website i came to know that with coming up 3 screen multiplex in iris mall.. cinemax is also plaaning to start 4 screen multiplex in adajan area.... wow it wud be delightful part in both ends of surat

week ago i saw the hoardings of godrej garden city claiming the tallest towers in gujarat...

i have a question in mind that wen this tower was about to come in ahmedabad it got all the approvals from centre as well as state... but at d same stage wen smc is proposing 30 floors highrise scrapper in surat... state government denied the proposal.....

isnt it unfair with high aiming surat!!

You are totally correct we are really deprived of from watching 3D films in surat...ya even i heard that another cinemax is being planned in adajan but m not sure about the number of screens..wel wat's the status about imperial square???

As it comes to happen the city Surat always get struggled to get green signal to various developement projects within the city. One of the reason behind these is that many major politicians are located at Centre (A'bad and Gandhinagar). Hence they are to come to know their local areas, ignoring the rest of the state. For every project implementation, they find only 1 place,viz. A'bad/G'nagar. Take the issue of SEZs. 18 out of 60 SEzs are gone to only a'bad/gngar. Also despite having zero Industrial background, Dholera is getting International Airport. Where as world-known, the financial and Industrial city Surat, despite having large no.of Export based units and major players, 5 million of population is Struggling to Get A said Air facility.
Don't know why the hell these big politicians don't understand this basic fact? They just roaring that the state is developing fast. It just only A'bad. what abt Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara? I think Surat still have to struggle a lot to have International Airport, Cricket stadium and many more...

on to the cinemax website its stated for 4screens in adajan area... and about imperial square ... sluggish progress can be seeen..... even in trinity mall cant see so much of happening..... and there is one more mall proposed nearby imperial square... but at so much less space dont know how they will manage to operate full fleged mall.....

YEA U r right...... week ago when i visited ahmedabad i saw so much of devolopment taking place in the city.... when gujarat govt is ready to fund and to spend on riverfront & metro projects in ahmedabad...... in figures of thousand of crores, then y it is helpless to fund for cable stayed bridge in surat... just because its gonna be iconic for surat and its not been planned in ahmedabad......

though everyone praises MODI for his work... but i dont think so he is totally biased n cooperative with all parts of gujarat....

even politicians of south gujarat have value of dust in front of others... so only there request are overruled all the time........
