But there will be many lobbies against getting these type of shuttle buses from IXM.Especially, the contractor for taxi-stand at IXM will never encourage this move,as it will affect him directly.

IXM has developed in a big way recently and with Intl. operations kick-starting soon,We're expecting the passenger count to touch atleast 65K in Nov/Dec 12.
I am not sure how the taxi-stand contractor will leave this possible,with these conditions..! Let's see !

Good route, but valid concerns. Madurai always has such issues when it comes to some sort of growth. Let us hope good sense prevails and some sort of arrangement is made. May the Collector and people like Manick can influence to some extent.

தேவையான கட்டமைப்பு வசதிகள் இருந்தும் மதுரை விமான நிலையத்திலிருந்து சர்வதேச விமானங்கள் புறப்படுவது தள்ளிப் போகிறது. தென் மாவட்டங்கள் பொருளாதார ரீதியாக மேம்பாடு அடைய போக்குவரத்து கட்டமைப்பு வசதிகள் அவசியம். தென் மாவட்டங்களில் இருந்து ஏராளமான பயணிகள் உள்நாட்டிலுள்ள பிறநகரங்கள் மற்றும் வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு சென்று திரும்புகின்றனர். மதுரை உட்பட தென் மாவட்டங்களுக்கு தினமும் பத்தாயிரத்திற்கும் மேற்பட்ட உள்நாட்டு, வெளிநாட்டு சுற்றுலா பயணிகள் வருகின்றனர். தொழில், கல்வி, மருத்துவம் ரீதியாகவும் கணிசமான நபர்கள் வெளியிடங்களுக்கு செல்கின்றனர். விரைந்து செல்ல ஏதுவாக விமான சேவை அவசியம்.மதுரையில் சர்வதேச விமானங்களை இயக்க வசதியாக ரூ.130 கோடியில் புதிய டெர்மினல் 2010 அக்., 7ல் திறக்கப்பட்டது. 2011 ஜன., 1ல் கஸ்டம்ஸ் விமான நிலையமாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. தமிழகம், கேரள மாநிலங்களை ரயில் மற்றும் சாலை போக்குவரத்து மூலம் இணைப்பதில் மதுரை முக்கிய பங்கு வகிக்கிறது. மதுரையிலிருந்து தற்போது சென்னை, பெங்களூரு, கொச்சி போன்ற இடங்களுக்கு எட்டு விமானங்கள் இயக்கப்படுகின்றன.
ஏன் சர்வதேச விமானம் தேவை:
மதுரையை சுற்றி கொடைக்கானல், ராமேஸ்வரம், காரைக்குடி, கன்னியாகுமரி, தூத்துக்குடி, சிவகாசி, தேக்கடி, மேகமலை உட்பட ஏராளமான சுற்றுலா, புண்ணிய தலங்கள் உள்ளன. இரண்டாயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் பழமைவாய்ந்த சமணர் குகைகள், மீனாட்சி அம்மன் கோயில், திருமலைநாயக்கர் மகால் போன்ற புராதான இடங்கள் உள்ளன. தற்போது தகவல் தொழில் நுட்ப புரட்சிக்கு பின் அத்துறை சார்ந்த தொழில்கள் தோன்றி வருகின்றன. மதுரையிலிருந்து ஜவுளிகள், கிரானைட், மிளகாய், ரப்பர், உணவு பொருட்கள், மல்லிகை போன்ற பொருட்கள் வெளிமாநிலங்கள், வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு ஏற்றுமதியாகின்றன. மதுரை வழியாக தென் மாவட்டத்தினர் மத்திய கிழக்கு ஆசிய நாடுகள், ஐரோப்பா, அமெரிக்கா, சவூதி போன்ற நாடுகளுக்கு சென்று வருகின்றனர். தற்போது இவர்கள் திருச்சி, சென்னை சென்று விமானங்களில் செல்லும் நிலை உள்ளது. மேலும் மதுரை அரவிந்த் கண் மருத்துவமனை போன்ற மருத்துவமனைகளுக்கு ஏராளமானோர் வருகின்றனர்.என்ன வசதியில்லை: விமான நிலைய புதிய டெர்மினல் 18 ஆயிரம் சதுரடியில் உள்ளது. 16 செக்கிங் கவுன்டர்கள், 20 இமிக்ரேஷன் கவுன்டர்கள், 7 கஸ்டமஸ் கவுன்டர்கள், மூன்று ஏரோபிரிட்ஜ்கள், மூன்று பேக்கேஜ் கன்வெயர் பெல்ட், 375 கார்கள், 10 பஸ்களை நிறுத்த பார்க்கிங் வசதி உள்ளன. விமான ஓடுபாதை தற்போது 7,500 சதுரடியாக உள்ளது. அதை முதலில் 9 ஆயிரம் சதுரடியாகவும், பின் 12 ஆயிரம் சதுரடியாகவும் நீடிக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படுகிறது. ஒரே நேரத்தில் நான்கு பெரிய விமானங்களை இயக்க முடியும். ஒரு வாரத்தில் தென் மாவட்டங்களிலிருந்து துபாய்க்கு 1200, சிங்கப்பூருக்கு 1100, கோலாலம்பூருக்கு 1300, மஸ்கட்டுக்கு 1000, மாலேக்கு 400, அமெரிக்காவுக்கு 150 பயணிகள் செல்கின்றனர். எனவே சர்வதேச விமானங்களை இயக்கினால் பயணிகளிடம் மிகுந்த வரவேற்பை பெறும்.
மதுரை டிராவல் கிளப் தலைவர் முஸ்தபா: சவூதி போன்ற நாடுகளுக்கு போதிய பயணிகள் கிடைப்பார்களா என விமான நிறுவனங்கள் யோசிக்கின்றன. ஆனால் தேவையான பயணிகள் உள்ளனர். இருப்பினும் மதுரையிலிருந்து சென்னை வழியாக இயக்கலாம் என கூட விமான நிறுவனங்களிடம் தெரிவித்துள்ளோம். விரைவில் சர்வதேச விமானங்கள் புறப்படும்.தமிழ்நாடு தொழில் வர்த்தக சங்க தலைவர் ஜெகதீசன்: ஆகஸ்டில் இலங்கைக்கு, மதுரையிலிருந்து விமானம் புறப்படும். மிகின்லங்கா ஏர்லைன்ஸ், செப்டம்பரில் கொழும்புக்கு விமானத்தை இயக்கவுள்ளது. வாரத்தில் மூன்று நாட்கள் முதற்கட்டமாக இயக்கப்படும். ஆறு மாதங்களுக்குள் பல வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு ஏர் அரேபியா போன்ற பன்னாட்டு நிறுவனங்கள் வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு விமானங்களை இயக்க வாய்ப்புள்ளது.

flied to madurai from mds for a very short trip (2 days). Mr. M.Tagore, Mr. G.K. Vasan, Mr. Thangabalu and other congress leaders were in flight yesterday near my seat. Managed to speak to Mr. Tagore briefly. He remembered my earlier mails to him regarding intl services and also appreciated our forum members for the hard work putting in. He expects Spice Jet as well as Mihin both to start service by sept/oct. For other services etc there are some issues. I cant post it here

Pictures on SG BOM B-737 Flight with report :

Report :

* Travelled on Monday.
* IXM-MAA was almost FULL. (He mentioned "Above 95%").
* 60% passengers de-boarded at MAA.
* 40% passengers remained in the flight, doing direct IXM-BOM [On Calculation - Around 80 Passengers] - No doubt If 9W/SG try a non-stop IXM-BOM using ATR72/Q400's, It will be a hit.
* MAA-BOM leg was also almost full.
