Are there new updates of the construction of this bridge?

There will be parking on one side of the bridge and walkway across. But if you want to see the bridge from above there is only on foot you can go up the hill

Probably one of the most scenic drives in Norway. That will definitely cut the travel time from Bergen to Oslo. BTW, does anyone know how long it takes to drive from Oslo to Bergen right now?

Wouldn't the Lærdalstunnelen become a bit obsolete because of this new bridge? It may be even reasonable to shift E16 to the new bridge. It's some 35 km shorter.

I would think around 6 hours running the Rv7 in normal weather conditions and you hit the ferry perfectly and count extra half hour for E16. E16 follows it's long detour because it's mountain-pass (Filefjell) has the best track-record during winter, even now a project is being done to upgrade this pass. While the Rv7 has a difficult mountainpass that is often closed. Personally i think E16 should follow Rv52 over Hemsedal as this is also a good mountain-pass and it's quite a bit faster than following E16. The upgrades further down on Rv7 will also benefit Rv52 aubviously and further shorten this route compared to E16.

Thanks. Sounds like this bridge will not really cut the travel time, just giving travelers an alternative route. Looking at the map, from Bergen to Oslo: E16>Rv13>Rv7 vs E16 vs E16>Rv52> Rv7. |
