Guangzhou(Canton) 2009, the center of pearl river delta

Guangzhou(Original name:Canton) has been the economic/culture/political center of Guangdong province and pearl river delta for more than 2,200 years. It is the place where Cantonese people and Cantonese culture( Dimsum, Cantonese opera, etc) originate.

Current Population: 10 million

The three supertall buildings on the first pic from left to right are:
Citic plaza(391m) -> West Tower(440m) -> Guangzhou TV tower(610m)

Never ending city. I visited once probably about 10 years ago. Big changes since then.

Guangzhou's original name has always been Guangzhou. It was the Europeans who didn't know the difference between Gaungzhou and Guangdong (province) and thus named Guangzhou "Canton".
