Yeah - a few pics were taken months back. If I can find them I will link them to this post.

What does AK stand for? I'm assuming it has nothing to do with an assault rifle.

Well we may well find out in the next day or so if Perth is getting a new stadium. Likely outcomes:

Win the World Cup bid - New multi-purpouse stadium to be ready for 2022

Lose the World Cup bid - status quo...... and maybe a Subi upgrade (for much less $$) at some unspecified point in the future.

Unfortunately I think it may well be the latter

I'm really not liking the chances of Aus getting the world cup. My guess US but who knows.

Depends on your perspective. From a global POV, a definite con is the timezone with most of the current tv money coming from Europe and the Americas.

According to the FIFA summary of the 2022 bids they also rank highest in terms of profitability. Australia ranks second last, just in front of Qatar.

Qatar and their oil money?!?!?

Australia can make a lot of the growing market in Asia (china, thailand, indonesia, japan, korea, etc) that is in similar Time Zones.

Pros: Global exposure, New Stadiums, New / Improved infrastructure (transport / airports / hotels etc), investment in host cities (including training bases), Increased Tourism (both for the event, and from interest generated in the host country before and after the event), Growth of Football (Soccer) as a sport in Australia and the region, sense of collective national pride (i really noticed this when at the WC in Germany).

Cons: Yokels will complain that Australia is opening its doors to millions of asylum seekers Initial cost outlay (although the economy in general should make the money back). Interuption of AFL season Growth of Football (Soccer) as a sport in Australia and the region (seen by a lot of ALF/League fanatics as a bad thing).

The US is so profitable partly because they don't have to build any new stadiums, and the ones that they will use are huge!

If NRL rather than AFL was the bigger sport in Australia then maybe we wouldn't have to build so many stadiums (or base the bid around converted ovals..... which also is not attractive to FIFA or fans).

Nothing at all - it's just a numbering of reserves. If you look at this map from 1930 you can see Ad, Ae, Ag, Ah, Al, Ak, Am, An, Ao, Ap, Aq, Ax, Ay, Az.

I'm very worried it will go to Qatar. FIFA will loose infinite respect if it does.

The more realistic outcome is an US/Australia face off in the final rounds with the US vitcorious with help from Exo-Europeans, Qatar's asian bloc and the powerful CONCAF.

Anyone seen Australias FIFA pitch video?
http://www.news.com.au/national/fran...-1225964293131

May be I'm missing something. Pretty shocking imo.

-20 points for having that EMU on there.

It was well received. Though perhaps not as well as Qatar's or the US's.

Lowy was very passionate in speech. I felt it made up for anything lacking in the video.

Let's face it though, all this stuff is part of the 'folklore' and really makes no difference to the outcome.

Premier dumps talk of stadium decision

Premier dumps talk of stadium decision - source - the west

Really dont know how to respond to this ,

I heard him on the radio several times that there would be be a decision made in feb, guess the drugs where making me hear and see fairies again.

A couple years has past since the stadium report, but come on it still valid, only change is add another 10,000 seats

Sigh
