I'm curious about something, perhaps my fellow Russian forumers could help.

Over the recent years, I've read plans of the govt creating Russia Airlines, then I'm not too sure what happened with that.

Then I read that the govt wants to merge most of the smaller carriers including Rossiya into Aeroflot but not too sure if that's still in the plans.

Also, if the plan is to merge the carriers into Aeroflot, won't Aeroflot suddenly be too big, considering that a while ago, the US and Russian govts signed for 65 B737s... (is that still on?)

So what is it now?

ddes, yes you are right. But the plans for Russia Airlines are not real anymore. Government has decided to cancel plans for a new huge airline, but decided to give shares of 6 airlines to S7 Group or Aeroflot Group, after some talks they gave it to Aeroflot:

CEO of JSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines Vitaly Savelyev and Deputy CEO of the state-owned Russian Technologies Corporation Igor Zavyalov held a working meeting with the heads of the airlines which are being transferred under Aeroflot’s management: FSUE GTK Rossiya, FSUE Kavminvodyavia, FSUE Orenburg Airlines, JSC Vladivostok Avia, JSC Saratov Airlines, and JSC Sakhalinskye Aviatrassy.
The meeting decided to set up a Management Committee to ensure effective integration of the six airlines into the Aeroflot structure. The Committee will be regular, and will include Aeroflot executives and managers of the transferred companies.
The meeting considered issues concerning the companies’ marketing strategy, air fleet standartization, and some other operational, financial, and production matters.
The Agreement on Cooperative Management of Assets of the Russian Technologies Corporation implies Aeroflot being involved in the management of the six airlines’ operations, production and finance. Furthermore, the agreement formalizes the preemptive right of the Russian Technologies Corporation with regard to aircraft leasing, aircraft parts supplies and aircraft maintenance on market conditions.
The heads of Aeroflot and Russian Technologies have confirmed mutual interest in the successful business development within the Aeroflot Group.

And regarding new Boeing planes, yes Russia will buy it, for this new structure including 6 airlines, that will be integrated into Aeroflot:

President Barack Obama on Thursday said that Russia was buying 50 Boeing aircraft valued at four billion dollars that could create 44,000 jobs in the struggling US economy. In a statement released after Obama's comment, Boeing said that it had signed a document with the Russian state corporation Rostechnologii "confirming the decision by Rostechnologii to place an order for 50 Boeing Next-Generation 737 airplanes." Touting "the economic benefits and operating efficiencies" of the Next-Generation 737, Boeing said the planes would "directly support Rostechnologii's plan to provide Russian airlines with efficient and reliable airplanes that will help them to consolidate and grow their domestic and international operations."
"We look forward to continuing our long-term partnership with Rostechnologii and finalizing the contract," the company said.
Jim Proulx, spokesman for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said in an interview with AFP that the 50 Next-Generation 737s were worth "3.6 billion dollars at current list price."

Also Aeroflot has signed a firm contract with Airbus to purchase 11 A330-300 widebodies, in a deal that was widely expected beforehand.

Aeroflot has chosen the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engine to power its new A330-300s and has ordered 24 Trent 700 powerplants in a deal that Rolls-Royce values at $650 million at list prices.

The Moscow-based airline’s newly ordered A330-300s will feature a two-class cabin layout seating around 300 passengers. The carrier is planning to operate the aircraft on its extended network of long-haul destinations. Additionally, Aeroflot placed a firm order for 22 A350 XWBs and 22 B787 in 2007.

I'm in Moscow again. It's really amazing the effect of the forest fires in the air...

Bad visibility and the air is quite unbreathable. Some photos outside Domodedovo's Terminal this last night:

LisbonJet, what is happening now is a natural collapse! I cant remember smth like this before, today many people use masks, because its so hard to breathe! And temperature is +38 now, no wind, lucky those who are not here today. But airports are not closed and work almost normally, although the visibility is very bad.

phugiay, as i know Ho Chi Minh City new terminal is under construction, or am i wrong?

Moscow during daytime, looks like night! Reminds me of Silent Hill movie, a real natural tragedy.
