Well, it was discussed here about that runway, but as i can understand it will exist, i think new terminal wont influence 2d runway... it will be used as a runway, are you an architect?

Moscow airport Domodedovo cut off power in freezing rain

Moscow's Domodedovo airport ground to a halt on Sunday when a power cut delayed flights leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.
A spokeswoman for the airport said two power wires were broken at electric substations in the Moscow Region following a freezing rain that hit the Russian capital on Saturday.
"The work of the airport has been temporarily suspended," Yelena Galanova said adding that the repair works were ongoing.
More than 10 flights were sent from the Domodedovo airport to Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, which is currently working in a normal regime, Ekho Moskvy radio station reported.
The freezing rain turned roads into icy sheets in Moscow and prompted major railway traffic disturbances in the Moscow Region.
Some 100,000 people were left without electricity in the Moscow Region, a spokesman for the Moscow electric power grid company said.
Russia's chief sanitary doctor Gennady Onishchenko recommended Muscovites to stay at home to avoid being injured on icy roads.
MOSCOW, December 26 (RIA Novosti)

Currently all flights are being redirecting to SVO & VKO airports.

Domodedovo airport back to normal but weather chaos continues

22:34 26/12/2010

Moscow's largest airport's power supply has been restored, officials said on Sunday, after a major power failure left over 8,000 passengers stranded.
"Power supplies to Domodedovo airport have been restored," the Moscow United Electric Grid Company said.
Domodedovo airport, Russia's busiest, was closed on Sunday morning after power lines were snapped by icy rain. Some rail services were suspended.
Power outrages have left 412,000 people without electricity across several regions in central Russia on Sunday, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told a government meeting.
He urged Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu to "mobilize all units" in order to tackle the "latest weather anomaly," as meteorologists predict there is little relief in sight.
Moscow's other two major airports, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo, remained open, although over 60 inbound and outbound flights were cancelled at Sheremetyevo.
Officials have warned of dangerous driving conditions, as snow and ice are causing further disruption to main road routes in and out of Moscow.
Moscow residents have been warned to stay indoors.

Passengers brawl in Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport as flight delays continue

The situation in Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport, where thousands of passengers have become stranded since Saturday, is gradually heating up, an airport employee told RIA Novosti on Monday.
Severe freezing rain, which covered the entire territory of Central Russia over the weekend, has suspended many of the country's daily activities, causing serious power outages and disrupting the operations of public transportation and airports.
More than 200 flights have so far been postponed at Moscow's largest airports of Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo. The delays were caused by power outages and ice at Domodedovo and by de-icing aircraft at Sheremetyevo.
Several passengers scuffled in Sheremetyevo overnight, an eyewitness said. In another incident, according to him, dozens of passengers blocked the boarding of a plane bound for London demanding to meet with the management of Sheremetyevo. Police were forced to intervene in the growing uproar.
Passengers waiting for their flights to Prague are most exacerbated as the Russian air company Aeroflot has postponed the majority of the flights to the Czech capital.
All of the people stranded in Sheremetyevo are complaining about the management's negligence of the situation. Several people were left without food vouchers or places to sleep.
The situation at Domodedovo International Airport is also complicated as neither the airline companies, nor the airport authorities have given any information on the delayed or canceled flights. Two of Domodedovo's halls are still remaining without electricity or Internet access.
MOSCOW, December 27 (RIA Novosti)

At the moment around 20000 people are waiting in DME.

Levitin Sees Foreign Interest in Managing Sheremetyevo

13 January 2011
Interfax

Foreign airport operators are showing interest in the management of Sheremetyevo International Airport, Transportation Minister Igor Levitin said Thursday.

"An assessment is underway of Terminal D and Sheremetyevo's assets," he said.

Levitin said an expert estimate had shown that it is impossible to separate the management of Sheremetyevo and Terminal D. "The experience this winter has shown that," he said.

A managing company will be brought in for the combined asset after a total assessment is completed, Levitin said. "Major European operators and from Southeast Asia [the operator of the Singapore airport] have been in contact, as well as American operators," he said.

Levitin also said the main fault of Aeroflot’s management during the mass flight delays from Dec. 26 to 29 was its inability to make temporary flight schedules, even though they had aircraft and crews.

The minister said, “This matter will be considered at the next board of directors meeting.”

Levitin also said that although foreign airlines had delays, in contrast to Aeroflot, they gave their passengers objective information.

Russia's Transaero starts direct flights to Brazil

image hosted on flickr

A Boeing 747-400 aircraft operated by Russia's second largest airline, Transaero, landed on Tuesday in Rio-de-Janeiro establishing a direct link with Moscow for the first time in many years.
The plane carrying 303 passengers took off on January 3 from Moscow Domodedovo airport and spent a total of 12 hours and 30 min in the air.
Russian airlines have not served the Latin American market since the mid-1990s when Aeroflot terminated regular flights to Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
Transaero will initially carry out one direct flight from Moscow to Rio per week.
Brazil is a rapidly emerging market for business travel and tourism, with the country hosting the 2014 World Cup, and Rio staging the 2016 Olympic Games.
RIO-DE-JANEIRO, January 4 (RIA Novosti)

I checked the site, round trip from Moscow to Rio and back cost starting 1,260 USD in economy and 2,300 USD in business, i think its a great price for such a long flight!

Rumors also are, that Transaero applied with the Peruvian Civil Aeronautics Board to operate a DME-LIM (Lima,Peru) service.

"Aeroflot" wants to resume its direct flights to Mexico

After almost 21 years of absence, "Aeroflot Russian Airlines" has intention of resuming its direct flights to Mexico, has declared the Mexican Minister of Tourism, Gloria Guevara, at the international tourist exhibition FITUR in Madrid.

"The Russian airline "Aeroflot", that from the middle of 1990s has no connection to Mexico, has intention of resuming its direct flights to our country due to the increasing demand in Russia towards this direction", Mexican official said.
The minister said that the corresponding negotiations began already between the parts but it did not define the date of opening of the direct air traffic between Russia and Mexico and the regularity of the flights.
The regular flights of "Aeroflot" will help Russian touroperators to widely open Mexican destination, in the opinion of Guevara.

In the last two years, Russian citizens visits to Mexico increased high. In 2009, the Mexican territory was visited by nearly 15 thousand Russian tourists, as, in 2010 this number increased up to almost 40 thousand persons. At the end of 2010, Mexico was visited by more than 22,6 million foreign tourists.

http://rian.ru

Currently Russia and Mexico are connected only with Transaero direct flight Moscow (DME) - Cancun.
