DOMODEDOVO BOMBER WAS 20-YEAR-OLD FROM NORTH CAUCASUS - RUSSIAN INVESTIGATORS

Moscow airport blast aimed at foreigners - investigators

The deadly terrorist blast at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport on January 24 was carried out by a resident of the Russia’s North Caucasus region and was aimed primarily at foreigners, investigators said on Saturday.
“It was no accident that the terrorist attack took place in the international arrivals zone,” Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said.
“Investigators believe that it was directed against, in the first place, foreign nationals,” he added.
He also said that the blast, which killed 35 and injured dozens, was carried out by a 20-year-old resident of the country’s volatile North Caucasus region.
“Despite the investigation having established the name of the terrorist, we will not name him today,” Markin went on, adding that investigators were seeking to detain the organizers of the attack.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which came less than 12 months after two female suicide bombers from the North Caucasus republic of Dagestan attacked the Moscow metro, killing 39.
Markin also said that a number of suspects believed to have been planning a December 31 attack in the centre of Moscow had now been taken into custody, while others had been placed on a wanted list.
He also said the suspects had been involved in a December 31 blast at a hotel room in southeast Moscow. Reports say the blast killed a would-be suicide bomber who was assembling an explosive device.
MOSCOW, January 29 (RIA Novosti)

and also this headline, connected with a previous:

Two Moscow shopping malls evacuated in terror alert

Visitors were evacuated from two shopping malls in southeast and southwest Moscow on Saturday amid a terror threat, a police spokesperson said.
Police evacuated a large shopping center Mega-Belaya Dacha, in southeast Moscow, after they found a written message saying an explosion would occur at 9 p.m. (1800 GMT) , the spokesperson said.
Shortly after, a bomb threat also caused evacuation of another Mega-Tyopli Stan shopping complex, in southwest Moscow. The evacuation caused large traffic jams on the roads.
"The work of the shopping malls was stopped, the buildings are being checked by dog teams. Nearby IKEA shops are also being examined. Rescuers, firefighters and ambulance teams are on duty," the spokesperson said.
Police in Moscow were put on high alert following the deadly terrorist blast at the capital's Domodedovo airport on January 24 which killed 35 people and injured dozens.

As you maybe know, Transaero have 4-class planes (777 and 747), sugesting Imperial 1st Class, Business class, Premium economy and Economy, and at that times when they had Hong Kong flights in their schedule, they were offering good alternative to other carriers in the way i will explain. Clients who bought a business class ticket used Imperial 1st Class salon, if you buy Premium Economy you used Business class salon, so on this route there were 3 classes, and buying Premium econ while using and getting all privileges of a Business class pasenger was a great alternative! They use the same scheme on Beijing, New York and Miami routes now...I think its all made for advertising and making their service more popular, but still Hong Kong route was closed )
Thanks a lot for your great explanation, I highly apperciate

CPHbane, regarding charters to Egypt, i work for touroperating, and seems like all planes to HRG and SSH soon will be cancelled, but regarding CAI its not charters, its regular flights and no info actually...As soon as Mubarak will leave i think..

Regarding rumored route SVO-LIM, i am not quite sure SU's 332 could fly that distance, its too much... but maybe via Marocco or Algiers, then maybe its possible ) But as i know, AFL dont like flights with stops, preferring direct..

A332 could pull it off indeed.

Distance: http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=SVO-LIM

Plane specs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A330

Cutting it a little close! Could get away with some minor restrictions such as weight.

Thanks for updating!

I wonder why SU do not extend SVO-HAV to LIM, then definitely A332 could handle it.

Besides, there is no direct flight between HAV and LIM...if SU get the fifth right...

For routines between SVO and LAD, HRG is technical stop or has the fifth rights?

Rumors say that AB will add Stuttgart (STR) from DME as a new destination (plus LED from DUS). This would be the fifth (if we count the once weekly flights to Hanover/HAJ)

Great news for DME!

Many friends told me that WY would be next middle east giant in aviation industry! Great to see WY's metal in DME!
