Boeing will demonstrate its Dreamliner at MAKS-2011

Boeing will demonstrate its Dreamliner at MAKS-2011, RBC Daily reports.

As reported by CEO of MAKS-2011 show, Vladimir Borisov, 793 companies will take part in the show in 2011 (735 companies from 34 countries took part in it in 2009). According to Borisov, the show will occupy an area of 50 hectares, the exhibition area will be 36 000 square kilometers.

The main guests of the show are the Russian manufacturers, but the world’s leaders Airbus and Boeing have significantly increased their presence at MAKS during last years. However, they have decided to bring their novelties in Russia only this year. Acording to Borisov, A380 will arrive on August 14th (it has visited Russia only once making a short stop in Domodedovo in 2009). The liner will be performing daily flights and will be opened for attendance every day for a few hours. It will depart from the show on August 21st. As reported by the Airbus’ Moscow representative office, the Russian airlines are not ready to acquire the jet.

Another show’s sensation is Boeing 787. According to Vladimir Borisov, Boeing has requested servicing of Dreamliner for two days — August 16th and 17th. «The liner will be presented only on static display and will not be performing any flights. It will depart from MAKS on Wednesday», — Borisov noted. According to a source, the presented Dreamliner will be a test one without interior; it will make a stop in Moscow on its way to Japan, where its testing will be continued. The head of Boeing International, Sheppard Hill, have spoken about the possibility of Dreamliner’s arrival at Moscow earlier. The Boeing’s Moscow representative office has denied any comments on this information.

MAKS-2011 will be the third international show, where the new jets of Airbus and Boeing will be demonstrated simultaneously (along with Farnborough 2010 and Le Bourget 2011).

ZHUKOVSKY, Moscow region, August 14 (Itar-Tass)

—— The world’s biggest commercial jetliner, Airbus A380, arrived in Zhukovsky on Sunday to take part in the MAKS 2011 international aerospace show from August 16 through 21.

http://aleshru.livejournal.com/

The liner landed on the airfield of the Gromov Flight Research Institute.
The Gromov Institute airfield has one of the longest runways in the world and the longest runway in Europe, 5,043 meters. The total area of the runway is 2.5 million square meters.
The runway was one of the possible landing spots for the Buran multi-use spacecraft. The airfield makes it possible to display piloting qualities of various types of aircraft.
More than 200 aircraft will be displayed at MAKS, and over 100 of them will take part in show flights, he said.
Zhukovsky is the 133rd airport in the world and the second Russian airfield visited by the jetliner. It came to Russia in October 2009 for a stopover in Domodedovo en route from Toulouse to South Korea.
The plane, one of the five experimental Airbus A380, is not used on regular routes, it trains pilots and tests avionic prototypes.
MAKS 2011 will be one of the largest air shows in Europe and may draw up to 700,000 visitors, chairman of the show’s organizing committee, Moscow Regional Vice-Governor Pyotr Katsyv told Itar-Tass earlier.
A new road was built from Route M5 to the MAKS 2011 premises for increasing the transport accessibility of the show. “Shuttle buses will make trips at a one-minute interval, so visitors will feel comfortable even in peak hours,” he said.
For the first time in its ten-year history, MAKS 2011 presents show flights of up to ten WW2 aircraft, including I-15bis, I-153, I-16 and MiG-3 fighters, as well as two T-60 tanks, anti-aircraft weapons and a field kitchen of the war years.
The biggest commercial jetliner, Airbus A380, will be the main premiere of MAKS 2011, Katsyv said.
There will be performances of Russia’s four aerobatics teams and show flights of French, Italian and U.S. aircraft.
The total sum of contracts that may be signed at the MAKS 2011 international aerospace show in Zhukovsky may reach $3 billion, Russian Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said on Friday.
He said that would be both defense and civil orders, among them the orders for the new jetliner MS-21.
Aviasalon General Director Vladimir Borisov was more optimistic. He forecasted a total sum of MAKS 2011 contracts at more than $10 billion on Thursday.

Aeroexpress will construct a new railway terminal at Domodedovo airport

Aeroexpress, the company transporting people to Moscow airports and back, intends to construct a new railway terminal at Domodedovo airport, Interfax reports.

According to a top-manger, the existing terminal does not meet the requirements of the airport and Aeroexpress. "The new terminal will be roofed and warm. The construction will be started in the nearest future, design work is currently underway", - the corporate television of Russian Railways notes.

The project’s value is assessed at $17.7 mln (500 million rubles). The company intends to take out a loan in order to implement this project.

It is planned to put terminal into operation in the second half of 2012.

phugiay, it all depends, some people like DME, some SVO, its more like a habit i guess. Decades ago SVO was the only international airport in Moscow, but after a full renovation DME has attracted many world famous carriers and it used to be the best airport in the city, although its far from the city center, about 40-50 km. I think all 3 airports are fine now, VKO is empty and new also, needs more carriers. It has a big and very modern terminal, but is used mostly by lowcost, charter carriers and for domestic flights also.

Thank you Iggis. Is there any public transportation connected from those airports to the city?

Yes, all 3 airports are connected to central stations with Aeroexpress train, trains frequency is 30 minutes. Plus there are few bus lines, but not to a city center, just to the nearest metro stations, because due to a huge traffic in Moscow its not yet possibe to organize direct bus lines to city center, and journey will take long time because of city sizes. If you need to read about the train, you can find all info here: http://www.aeroexpress.ru/en/

Using Aeroexpress service, you can also book a taxi directly from a train station, right on a website together with electronic ticket. Or
if you dont need a taxi, then just change to a metro station after arriving. All 3 railway stations used by Aeroexpress are situated on a Ring (Brown) line, so its easy to reach any destination in Moscow.

What's about A380? Any operators in future? I heard that Emirates plans a route from Dubai-DME in 2012 when the new terminal will be completed.Would like to know if it is possible in near future.

Rumors are that Emirates will start using A380 to DME in 2013. Technically DME is ready to accept this kind of liner. Currently EK has 2 daily flights on B777-300ER and A340-500.
