^ I think it's more the general competition on this city pair, as Aeroflot, Transaero and Miat are flying there as well. Even though has some starting offers for 99 Euro return, you can expect the prices to be a bit higher than 4U in the mid-term, albeit not too much, as the cost base in Berlin is supposed to be around the same as at 4U.

Am I the only one thinking this is the most bizarre thing ever? Given the ease of online check-ins these days, I can't really see the need of something like this. I realize that there are a lot of security protocols that will result when the passenger arrives at the airport, but I still can't help to think about the implications and risks of aviation security.

Moscow Airport Will Allow Check-In Via Skype

By Olga Razumovskaya

Bloomberg News
MOSCOW — Sheremetyevo International Airport starting Wednesday will launch a service it says will be the first in the world — video flight check-in via Skype. The airport forecasts that between 15% and 20% of all the passengers will be using the Internet-based video phone service.

Passengers will be able to call Sheremetyevo on Skype using its “svo_checkin” Skype username. During a video call, passengers will be asked to state their last names and flight details and to display their passports, and they may print out their boarding passes at the end of the session. Registration will begin, depending on an airline, between six to 24 hours prior to the flight.

Passengers going through Sheremetyevo will be able to check in to 20 airlines serving Sheremetyevo, according to the head of passenger traffic at Sheremetyevo, Andrey Nikulin said, without specifying the names of the airlines. Sheremetyevo is currently negotiating with OAO Aeroflot, Russia’s flag carrier, to have it included in the new service. The airport said in a statement later that Skype will be available for check-in at Transaero, Air Astana, Royal Air Maroc, China Eastern Airlines, Estonian Air, Hainan Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, Iran Air, Jat Airways, Turkish Airlines and other carriers.

“The main problem [for traditional Internet check-in] is lack of communication with a real person, as a passenger is afraid to do something wrong. Here you will have straight communications, so there will be no fear during registration,” Mr. Nikulin said.

Domodedovo Airport has often been criticized as having POOR and INEFFICIENT security measures which have led up to the January 2011 terrorist attacks that imho could have been prevented if the airport had better safety and security policies and equipment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Do...irport_bombing

So yeah, with almost a year having passed by, what has Domodedovo Airport done to insure that this acts of terrorism will not happen again at its airport????

Security measures in russian airports are much more strict than any european airport, u even need to take shoes here everytime u enter security zone, in european ports its rare. I dont know who writes about it, but all security systems are efficient, sometimes its even annoying, i like flying throughout Europe because its easy, in Russia it takes some time to pass all controls.

Actually in Europe all measures are the same as were in DME, you can freely enter Barajas airport in Madrid or Frankfurt, you wont find any additional measures, can you? You never know when and where it can happen, terror attacks had place in London and Madrid aswell, but it didnt affect their airports to increase security. In Madrid there was a blast on Atocha station, and? No scanners there at all at the entrance.

But at the moment they check every passenger who enters the terminal through scanner.
