Just the opening flight. All other LH flights will be operated with "ordinary" planes.
It seems as Terminal A was opened for international flights. LH and TK are displayed to be handeled there on the departure board.

Domodedovo Airport Designs the Second 61-Football-Field-Size Segment of its Passenger Terminal

Having successfully completed the development of the third segment concept of the single passenger terminal, Moscow Domodedovo Airport and RMJM European Studio signed a new contract. The second segment of Domodedovo passenger terminal will be twice the Terminal 5 of London Heathrow Airport and equal to 61 football fields. Its area will be 439,500 sq. m.

‘We were impressed with the work done by RMJM on the third segment of the passenger terminal,’ said Pavel Cherepkov, Managing Director of Domodedovo Construction Company. ‘The passenger terminal development projects are part of a long-term strategy of Moscow Domodedovo Airport, and we are sure that RMJM can do high quality work.’

Under the supervision of the European Studio in Edinburgh and with the support of RMJM Transport Studio in Singapore, the draft of the second segment of the Domodedovo passenger terminal will be prepared round-the clock by RMJM offices in Vladivostok, New York and Moscow.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport keeps to the UNDER ONE ROOF concept, within which a single terminal is to be built making it possible to use of the airport’s transfer capacity the most efficiently. For example, the same concept is applied by one of the major European hubs - Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

To date, Domodedovo passengers and guests enjoy the first segment of the terminal, which is under expansion and reconstruction: in the third quarter of 2012, its area is to be more than doubled compared to that in 2011 - to 226 thousand square meters. With the commissioning of the second and third segments in 2017, the single terminal area will increase 9-fold and reach 919,500 sq. m.

RMJM is an international architecture company with 16 offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai, Hong Kong, Istanbul, London, Moscow, New York, Princeton, Shanghai, Singapore, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok and Washington. RMJM’ experience and design approach were successfully shown in projects in over 20 countries, covering a wide range of key economic sectors, from corporate headquarters and shore residential complexes to large public buildings, campuses and large-scale area renovation programs.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport in Russia in terms of passenger traffic. Following 2011, the airport has served 25,701,610 people and entered the group of the largest European airports, according to the ACI classification. Moscow Domodedovo Airport has been chosen for flights to Moscow by members of the world's leading aviation alliances - Star Alliance and oneworld. Since 2010, Moscow Domodedovo Airport has been on top of the list of the best airports in Eastern Europe in terms of the service quality, according to the annual survey by the independent research company Skytrax Research (UK).

Boeing 787 Dreamliner has landed at Vnukovo airport in the network of its world tour

http://aviaforum.ru/showthread.php?t=18893&page=163

"Russian Aviation"

Boeing 787 Dreamliner (registration number N787BX) has landed at Moscow Vnukovo airport on April 3rd 2012 at 18:32 (local time). The aircraft has visited Moscow in the network of its world tour. The jet has arrived at Moscow from Baku. AEX.ru
It is the fifth stage of Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s world tour, which includes 5 cities of South America, Central Asia, Russia and Europe.

Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the long-haul aircraft intended for transportation of 210—330 passengers for a distance of up to 15750 km.

The first commercial flights of Dreamliner have been performed several months ago — ANA (Japan) has acquired the first jets. Another Japanese airline – JAL will be the first operator of Dreamliner to start flying from Domodedovo to Tokyo in late April.

Aeroflot has signed an agreement with Boeing on delivery of 22 Dreamliners. The first one should have been delivered to the Russian carrier in 2011. However, the deliveries have been delayed for almost three years, but the airframer and the customer have tried to find early slots and now the airline may acquire its first Dreamliner in 2014.

Transaero has placed an order for 4 such jets in 2011. The Russian carrier will acquire jets with three-class cabin configuration intended for 262 passengers - 4 seats in first class, 14 seats in business class and 244 seats in economy class. The liners should be delivered in the next 5 years beginning 2012.

Domodedovo Airport: Opening the World to the World for 50 years

06.04.2012

April 7, 2012, the largest aviation harbour of Russia - Moscow Domodedovo Airport – celebrates its 50th anniversary. For the airport, 50 years is the time to confidently look forward to the future, to which the airport brings thousands of people every day, linking cities, time zones, and continents.

Any History always Begins in 50 Years

Everyone has its own vision of Domodedovo Airport. Over half-a-century history, it has become an air bridge for 463 million people. Its history is woven from opening the first flights of new airlines, from the joy of meeting and light sadness, from parting short, expectations, anticipations, and polyphony of casual talks.

Over 50 years, Domodedovo Airport has opened skies for millions of passengers, including theater and film stars, famous public and cultural figures, and winners of prestigious sporting events.

Domodedovo’s history is inextricably linked with the succession of generations. For five decades, three generations of professionals has been working here and growing in their career, and for many of them the work at the airport has become a tradition. Now Domodedovo is employing over 13,000 people. And if we add to them airline personnel, government organizations and commercial companies, the total number of people working at the airport will be 30,000 people.

Even those who have never traveled by air and have never worked at the airport, know Domodedovo for its “appearances” on the big screen. “Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath”, “Adventures of Yellow Suitcase”, “Conductor” and other well-known films - Domodedovo has become a real favorite of renowned filmmakers and the audience.

Science Today is Technology Tomorrow

The airport is a living organism, the circulatory system of which is regularly regenerated with fresh ideas, accelerating technological progress and innovative technical solutions. Historically, Moscow Domodedovo Airport has assumed a pioneering role from the very beginning. It has become a testing ground for the pride of the Soviet Civil Aviation. The “long range” IL-62 and supersonic civil aircraft Tu-144 has carried out their first flights here. In modern history, Domodedovo has become the first airport in Russia, which has been certified to accept and has accepted the largest civil airliner in the world, Airbus A380.

In the post-Soviet period Domodedovo has always adhered to the innovation policy. It was here for the first time in the domestic practice, where the third category lighting equipment, according to the ICAO classification has been installed. Today, Domodedovo is implementing a project for the introduction of Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS), which is unique for Russia. The system will identify and locate moving objects at any weather condition and give this information to the controller. In 2012, the airport will also fully upgrade its digital high-definition video surveillance system. And if it will have no analogues in Russia in terms of the technical characteristics and the number of video channels (over 1500), its level and volume of analytics has no analogues in the whole world.

Domodedovo Airport is not only going with the material trends, but with virtual trends as well. The entire passenger terminal is a Wi-Fi coverage area. Thanks to this, it takes merely one touch of a finger to download the DME Live free application, created specifically for the breakthrough product of Steve Jobs, the iPad tablet. Having downloaded the DME Live game anyone can have a look at the opposite, not less interesting, side of the life of the largest airport in Russia from the airport staff’s angle.

Despite the fact that Domodedovo is the youngest airport in Moscow, it has always been a testing ground for innovative solutions, and this has fostered its leadership qualities and predestined superiority not only in the Moscow aviation hub and Russia, but also in Eastern Europe.

Work to Stay Young

Domodedovo is not only the largest aviation harbour of the country, but also the first private-run airport. In 2011, it served 25.7 million passengers, reaching not only its historic highs, but beating the record among all the air gates of Russia. This allowed Domodedovo enter the Big League of the largest airports in Europe, according to Airports Council International (ACI). Domodedovo serves 70,000 people daily, and more than 100,000 people in the summer season. Its throughput makes it possible to send and receive up to 90 aircraft per hour. According to this index, Domodedovo has no analogues among other Russian airports.

According to Skytrax, for several years in a row, Moscow Domodedovo Airport has been heading the top three airports in Eastern Europe in terms of the quality of the passenger service. Millions of passengers have given the airport the highest rates on 40 parameters. It is for the fifth year already, Domodedovo has been leading in the “Best Russian Airport” nomination of the “Travel.ru Star” award. In 2012, it won the most votes among the 18 applicant airports nominated for the award by tourists and travelers.

The potential for further development includes the reserved land, which eventually open up the possibility for the construction of nine runways. The area of the passenger terminal, which is one of the main priorities in the possible formation of a hub, is 9,550 ha. Just to compare, it is almost 3 times the size of Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, and 5 times the size of the Frankfurt hub. By 2020, the area of the single terminal will increase 9 times, compared with the current one, and on the basis of the airport and surrounding areas, it is planned to create the Aerotropolis, an aviation conglomerate of the future.

Hero of the Day

By April 7, Domodedovo Airport has prepared pleasant surprises to its passengers and guests. Commemorative flags will be ran up at the landside, arrival and departure halls will be decorated with balloons, and the airport’s visitors will have welcome refreshments and other surprises.

The fiftieth anniversary of the youngest and the first private airport in Russia is a momentous event not only for Domodedovo Airport, but for the entire aviation industry. Its development plans coincide with the modernization processes of Moscow and Russia, and its potential makes it possible for the airport to become the biggest hub in the world.

I'm coming this Saturday!

Is the passport control in Sheremetyevo terminal F as bad as the stories I've been reading? They say it can take up to 2 hours just to get through during peak periods. I'm just hoping 6pm isn't peak period for that terminal.

Thanks for that. I'm considering paying to use the fast track service, though $85USD seems steep.
