Direct flight from Domodedovo to Sweden

From Domodedovo airport to unique touristic route Gothenburg with Yamal

Since May 21, 2012 Yamal airlines will start to carry out a direct regular flight on Moscow - Gothenburg route from Domodedovo. A new direction, tickets on which already are in open sale, is unique for the Russian market of air transportation – currently airlines doesn't serve flights between the capital of Russia to the second largest economic and tourist center of Sweden. The proximity to Norway and Denmark makes Gothenburg a good point to start travel across Scandinavia.

Moscow (Domodedovo) - Gothenburg (Landvetter)

YC731 1.3.5. 9:20 10:15 CRJ200

Gothenburg (Landvetter) - Moscow (Domodedovo)

YC732 1.3.5. 11:15 14:30 CRJ200

I wonder why the rapid-exit taxiways in svo are not in use? Maybe for now the take offs and landings are operated seperately by the two runways? Looks like the 3550m runway is for landings now because there is more rubber on it.

As I was leaving SVO last weekend, we boarded the flight & a storm blew over the airport & closed it down for 2 hours. We sat in the plane for those 2 hours then when the airport opened again, we had to wait another hour in line to take off because of the backlog of aircraft waiting to take off & land. I think only one runway was in use. Luckily I had a 9 hour layover in Beijing.

Wezza, and what are your general impressions of SSJ-100? Is it comfortable inside? And as for hand luggage? You used it to Kazan and St.Petersburg?

I flew the SSJ on the KZN-SVO route, we had to change planes to an A320 for SVO-LED. Loved it, I like the 2/3 seating. It's good when you are travelling as a pair, you can have 2 seats to yourself. The cabin was very roomy inside, i had a small suitcase for hand luggage & there was no problem fitting it in the overhead locker. Also, I found the cabin very quiet inside, probably quieter than the A320.

Dream Liner in Domodedovo

18.05.2012

May 17, Moscow Domodedovo Airport held a presentation dedicated to the launch of commercial flights on Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by Japan Airlines (JAL). The official ceremony was attended by nearly 200 delegates: the top management of JAL, management of Domodedovo airport, representatives of the Embassy of Japan, representatives of the tourism industry, foreign and Russian media, bloggers and spotters.

‘We are pleased to announce that, May 17, Boeing 787 Japan Airlines made its first flight from Tokyo to Moscow. This is the first aircraft of this type, which will operate regular flights to Russia. We would like to thank the staff of Moscow Domodedovo Airport and all our partners for their assistance and support, - said Mr. Yonedzava Akira, a Board member of JAL. - I would like to express my hope that the introduction of the new airliner will further develop economic and cultural ties between our two countries, and an increasing number of tourists will be able to visit Russia and Japan.’

‘Flights on one of the most comfortable aircraft in the world, which are possible in Russia from Domodedovo airport only, ideally suite to our basic concept, that is taking care of our passengers and the progressive development of the quality of service, - said Igor Borisov, Director of Moscow Domodedovo Airport, to the guests. - We are confident, that with the beginning of flights on Boeing 787, more passengers will choose Moscow Domodedovo Airport and Japan Airlines.’

Following the ceremony, more than 60 representatives of Russian and foreign media were invited to the second part of the event: Meeting Boeing 787 on the apron. The most memorable and colorful moment was the “baptism” of the aircraft, traditional in the aviation industry, the waterbridge created by water flows let by two fire engines over the taxiing aircraft. This historic moment was captured by flashes of many cameras. After the start of commercial operation of the aircraft, the aircraft spotting was organized and attended by more than 90 professional and amateur aviation photographers and bloggers.

Boeing 787 is one of the most anticipated and state-of-art aircraft in civil aviation, which began to fly to Russia on a regular basis in just six months after its commissioning. Today the Dream Liner is operated under the flag of only two airlines in the world, one of which operates at Domodedovo airport.

From May 17, JAL is offering flights on Boeing 787 from Tokyo to Moscow (Domodedovo) 3 times a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The transportation partner of the event - Aeroexpress – provided transfer of reporters by a comfortable high-speed train to Domodedovo Airport and back.

Also had the comparison with the Airbus when traveling Berlin to Nizhniy via SVO. While the general impression was quite good, I can't say the cabin was on par with the A319. The seats with fabric instead of leather and the finish of the interior with some minor glitches generally looked cheaper and it didn't feel really quite sitting at the engines. So, I'd say still some way to go to be on par, but already quite okay.

I think the fabric seats in the SSJ are more comfortable, though they lack the adjustable headrest. The seats usually come from 3rd party suppliers anyway, so it's basically up to the airline what goes in them. One minor gripe I have with the design is the cabin window height. They seem a bit low, you have to duck a little when you're seated to look out. It's not too bad though. As far as interior fittings go, it's completely fine in my opinion. Not as classy as the new Boeing sky interior but it's still fine.
