Yes, its one of the most popular and profitable destinations for CSA, every season they increase number of flights, means in 2013 it will be 5 daily flights + 3 daily flights by Aeroflot.

Moscow is the second busiest route from Prague, right after Paris. More than 600,000 pax flies between PRG-SVO every year. As Iggis said, Russia is very popular country for CSA, they added several new destinations in Russia last year, unfortunately they are dropping very lucrative destinations in western countries due to high competetition from LLC. But finally we might see improvement about economic situation of czech national carrier. By the way CSA was the first airline in the world to fly regular jet-only routes, and it was on this route, route from Prague to Moscow.

Adding to this info:

In September 2011 Sheremetyevo International Airport and Czech Airlines (CSA) celebrated the 75th anniversary of the first Prague-Moscow flight. In honor of this event the unique retro-exhibition “MOSCOW-PRAGUE, 75*years” was arranged in Terminal F.

Czech Airlines is the oldest carrier in the Central Europe. The 1st passenger flight from Prague to Moscow was made on 2nd of September 1936. During the 10 hour flight the airplane was landing in Uzhgorod, Yasi, Kyev, Bryansk and finally Moscow. Inspite of the hard and long flight, this direction had been demanded. The Prague-Moscow flight is still one of the most popular routes of CSA.

Excellent news! My girlfriend flew to Australia on CZ last year. A big improvement over the CZ6001/6002 which has a stop in Urumqi. Nice equipment upgrade too instead of a 757 or 737.

Good prices, shame about the 9 hour transit at CAN. Most of the airlines have long transit times between Russia-Australia flights though. On CA I had an 8 hour and 6 hour transit at PEK and on SQ I had a 6 hour transit and will have a 3hr 40min transit in my return flight. It's not so bad though, Changi is a nice place to spend a bit of time.

Aeroexpress to Buy Double-Decker Trains From Swiss Manufacturer

Aeroexpress announced Tuesday that it chose Swiss manufacturer Stadler as the supplier of double-decker electric trains to operate on its rail routes connecting Moscow's main train stations with the city's airports.

Aeroexpress will sign a contract with Stadler to supply a total of 172 rail cars: 112 under the main contract and 60 under two optional agreements, Vedomosti reported Wednesday.

Stadler beat France's Alstom and Czech Skoda in the final round of the tender, held by Aeroexpress.

The first double-decker trains will start taking Moscow passengers to the Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports in 2015.

Aeroexpress plans to complete the renewal of its fleet with new trains by the end of 2016, the firm said in a statement posted on its website Tuesday.

Nadezhda Dorzhiyeva, an official spokeswoman for Aeroexpress, said the schedule and the running time for the trains would stay unchanged, but passenger capacity would increase 30 to 40 percent.

The tender, for 150 passenger cars, was first announced in May 2012. The amount of the contract was said to be up to 25 billion rubles ($830 million), but Dorzhiyeva said the final amount would vary depending on financing options.

She assured that the purchase of the new trains would not lead to higher fares.

Dorzhiyeva cited a growing market demand as one of the reasons for the tender, noting that last year 14.9 million people used a train to get to an airport, constituting 23.37 percent of all passengers in the Moscow hub.

By 2015, Aeroexpress expects to carry 21.1 million people, or 26.6 percent of all passengers.

Choco-Beef and Apple Tatin – new menu from Domodedovo airport

Domodedovo Catering Service, the largest in Russia and Eastern Europe in-flight catering company, held Tasting Board for the spring-summer assortment renewal.

The Boards for assortment renewal are held two times a year before every navigation season (spring-summer and autumn-winter). They are intended to get an independent evaluation of dishes (in terms of taste, design, accordance with modern trends) and confirm the renewal menu.

For event attendees, among whom invited media personnel were, the in-flight catering company of Moscow Domodedovo Airport presented more than 100 dishes from the new menu. Among news – such exclusive dishes as e.g. beef stew under chocolate sauce (Choco-Beef), barley risotto, Andalusian-style beef rissoles, pangasius baked in oyster marinade, apple Tatin (French apple dessert) and many other things.

The new trend of flight catering is the appearance of chopped meat in Domodedovo Catering Service’s assortment. Unlike beefsteak it retains juiciness after warm up on board of aircraft.

The guests of event noticed unanimously that differences in taste between economy and business class dishes are almost undistinguished. While business class dishes are distinct in sophistication and originality, the taste of economy class dishes thanks to efforts of Catering cooks are very close to the premium level.

Ilona Fedotova, the head editor of CHEFART magazine, comments on the event: «Everything was impressing – excellently organized work of Tasting Board, professionalism and attitude of participants to the process and, above all, the menu itself. Literally, all new dishes (more than 100 positions!) – snacks, salads, hot dish, desserts – which we tasted that day, deserved the highest appraisal. You’ve got just to envy air travelers flying through Domodedovo, - the flights will become for them the place of the real culinary revelations».
On the passed Tasting Board Domodedovo Catering Service presented new production methods, which came true thanks to purchase of special equipment. The one of news – electric fryer under pressure «MKN» - not only reduces preparation time of sauces to 60 % but preserves natural taste, colour of products, vitamins and microelements. Another novelty – forming equipment «Rheon» for pastry with stuff – will diversify design and create a greater variety of economy class products.

The opportunity to taste the dishes from the new spring-summer menu will come up on the flights of airlines, operating from Domodedovo airport. Today more than 80 % of Russian airlines, performing flights from Domodedovo as well as number of the largest international airlines such as Lufthansa, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, Swiss, Qatar Airways and others are provided with production of Domodedovo Catering Service.

Domodedovo Catering Service is the largest in Russia and one of the largest in Eastern Europe and CIS countries in-flight catering companies for passengers of all classes; its production capacity is 80,000 meals a day. It offers a wide range of hot dishes, cold appetizers, desserts, confectionary products, including both standard meals (hot, cold, canned, light meals), and special types of dietary meals (Muslim, Eastern, medical, vegetarian, children, etc.).

Moscow Domodedovo Airport — is the largest one of Russia, in 2012 the airport served 28,2 million people. It joins the category of the largest airports in Europe on the classification of the Airports Council International (ACI) and on results of 2012 became one of three European airports with the highest dynamic development. Domodedovo is chosen for flights by member airlines of two largest global airline alliances – Star Alliance and oneworld.
