Doppelmayr Cable Car (DCC), which is part of the Doppelmayr Group, has been awarded the contract to build an automated people mover (APM) system in Moscow, Russia. In addition to the implementation of the Cable Liner® Double Shuttle, DCC has been selected to operate the installation for 15 years. By 2018, DCC will have set another milestone in its company history, this time in Moscow.

The Cable Liner® is a fully automated rope-propelled transport system which already provides impressive efficiency and performance at numerous international airports. Utilizing the experience of more than 14.500 installations worldwide, DCC has developed the Cable Liner® which is a progressive and highly eco- friendly means of transport for public transit applications. As an efficient and cost-effective solution, these APM (Automated People Mover) systems are particularly well suited to use in urban areas, for airports, exhibition and congress centers, in large industrial and administrative complexes, and as links to exhibition centers, hotels and theme parks. Moscow's New Ramenskoye Airport to Open in March

Moscow's fourth airport will open on March 15, according to Tomas Vaishvila, head of the Ramport airport management company, the Gazeta.ru news website reported.

"The new airport will work 24 hours a day from March," Vaishvila said.

Ramenskoye Airport is expected to serve 50,000-60,000 passengers during its first month. Yearly passenger numbers are expected to reach 1.9 million, Gazeta.ru reported.

Russian Railways has confirmed future construction of a direct rail link to the airport, Vaishvila said.

The airport's management company will provide several other transport options to reach the airport, including a bus from the Kotelniki metro station that will run every 30 minutes, Gazeta.ru reported.

So what airline is going to use it? SVO is home to Aeroflot and skyteam partners. VKO is home to UT air and select airlines and DME is home to all other airlines and S7.

In the future, the load on the 3 Moscow airports will not be enough.

It is very inconvenient having so many airports when arriving on an international flight and wanting to connect onto another domestic city & the best flights are leaving from another airport. One mega airport would be nice. Oh well, that's not going to happen.

This decision was made after the evaluation of the carrier's income, that grew in the last quarter of 2015. Thai Airways International in February 2015 announced closure of flights on Bangkok - Moscow route on 29 March 2015.
