This is quite a silly argument not only in the context of Moscow but most multi-airport cities.

For example, no one in the right mind would ever fly British Airways from the Far East into Heathrow, and purposely continue their journey to Edinburgh on Ryanair out of Stansted.

Well, it's not a silly argument because I have flown into DME and continued my journey onwards from VKO simply because there are no good connecting flights from DME at that time. For Example, I arrived at 07:30 and there was a flight to KZN at 08:30 which I was never going to make, the next available flight was 14:30. That's a ridiculous amount of time to wait after traveling for 30+ hours. So I took a taxi to VKO to get on a flight that departed around 11:00.

My wife will be arriving at the same time next month with our 1 year old son & she is in the same predicament. Looks like she'll just have to get a hotel for a few hours.

Don't know about booking engines in Russia, but if you book flights in the US which connect in New York, it's very common for the engine to book an incoming flight in JFK, and outgoing in LGA (Laguardia). You are supposed to take a cab between the airports.

It's considered a connecting flight. If you're not paying attention you can actually miss that the connecting flight is from a different airport. I wonder how many people make that mistake daily!

A Lithuanian company's allowed to own an airport in Moscow? I thought the two countries didn't get along.

It's Lithuania along with Latvia and Estonia who look for quarrel with Russia, not Russia. We don't claim them as enemy like they do. And moreover: politics is politics and business is business. There are many business relationships between companies in Russia and Baltic states actually.

EK A380 soon to be back to Moscow!

Emirates to Deploy Flagship A380 Aircraft on Moscow route

Only Airline to Operate a Scheduled A380 Service into Domodedovo

Tuesday, June 14, 2016 — MOSCOW, Russia and DUBAI, U.A.E., – 14th June 2016 – Emirates has announced that it will be upgrading one of the two daily flights servicing its Dubai-Moscow route to an A380-800, commencing 1st December 2016.

Since Emirates started flying from its Dubai hub to Moscow in 2003, the airline has carried almost 3.5 million passengers on the route. Over the past 12 months, demand has increased, with some 400,000 passengers having travelled on the route. The increased level of passenger support and demand has led to Emirates’ decision to bring its iconic A380 to the Russian capital, setting a new product quality level in the market.

From the beginning of December, on flight EK131/132, the three-class A380-800 will offer 14 Private Suites in First Class and 76 fully flat-bed mini-pods in Business Class on the upper deck. It will also provide Onboard Shower Spas for First Class passengers and the iconic Emirates Onboard Lounge, where First Class and Business Class passengers can socialise at 40,000 feet, both products being unique to the Russian market. An additional 426 seats in Economy, gives a total of 516 seats on the aircraft, increasing the number of seats on the route by 23%.

Operating a higher capacity aircraft helps serve the growing demand from both leisure and business travellers. Outbound from Moscow, Dubai, with its family-friendly attractions and soon-to-open new theme parks is always popular with Russian travellers, as are the Indian Ocean islands, Thailand and Bali.

Moscow joins more than 40 Emirates A380 destination cities, offering Russian travellers the airline’s best-in-class onboard product and renowned service.

In March this year, Emirates and S7 Airlines, based at Domodedovo Airport announced an extended codeshare agreement on more than 30 Russian routes increasing connectivity and benefits for customers across Russia. The extended partnership also created a direct link under Emirates’ code between St. Petersburg and Moscow, allowing visitors to experience Russia’s two largest cities with a single travel itinerary.

Flight schedules between Dubai and Moscow Domodedovo (DME) from 1st December 2016:

Flights EK131/EK132 will be operated by an A380-800:

· EK131 departs from Dubai at 17:30hrs and arrives in Moscow at 21:55hrs.

· EK132 departs from Moscow at 23:55hrs arriving in Dubai at 06:20hrs next day.

EK133/EK134 will continue to be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER:

· EK133 departs from Dubai at 10:00hrs and arrives in Moscow at 14:20hrs.

· EK134 departs Moscow at 16:40hrs and arrives in Dubai at 22:55hrs.

All flight times are local.
