Floral patterns, khokhloma etc seems to be very popular for these new SSJ liveries.

Well these ornaments were used earlier on other planes in both UTair and Moskovia. Although they do fit SSJ quite well, that's for sure.

So far Sukhoi has very limited success at Farnborough signing only 2 deals for 15 planes - 7 for Kazakhstanian Bek Air and 8 for Russian leasing company IFC.

Also, Interjet begins operating SSJ on MEX-SAT and TLC-SAT in September. SSJ is finally entering the United States.

Private Chinese firm to buy 100 regional Sukhoi jets
BEIJING, March 25 Tue Mar 25, 2014 5:46am EDT

(Reuters) - O-Bay Aircraft Co, a privately owned Chinese firm based in Henan province, has signed a $3.5 billion deal with Russia's Sukhoi Civil Aircraft to buy 100 SSJ-100 regional jets, a Chinese executive said on Tuesday.

O-Bay Aircraft also plans to manufacture SSJ-100 jets in partnership with Sukhoi and two Chinese companies in Zhengzhou city, Henan province, said the executive, who declined to be named.

"We are still in detailed discussions with Sukhoi for the China assembly plant which would be up and running by 2018. Part of the 100 jets would be manufactured in the China plant," the executive told Reuters, without disclosing financial details of the plant.

O-Bay Aircraft, the executive said, has conducted a detailed study about the growth potential of the Chinese market. It will set up an airline company flying the SSJ-100 jets and sell the jets to other Chinese carriers in the future.

However, global regional jet makers, such as Bombardier Inc and Embraer SA have made little headway in China so far because Chinese airlines, including regional carriers, prefer commercial jets made by Boeing Co and Airbus Group NV.

Safety of home-made planes are also called into question after Chinese aviation authority grounded some of China's self-made MA-60 regional planes last month after two consecutive instances of landing gear failure.

State-backed Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China is also making a regional jet, the ARJ21, as well as a commercial jet, the C919. (Reporting by Fang Yan and Matthew Miller in BEIJING; Editing by Jeremy Laurence)

As of July 2 there still were negotiations between Sukhoi and O-Bay over this matter. I'm guessing there's no unanimous opinion about how many planes are to be delivered from Russia, and how many should be assembled in China. Apparently Tianjin-based Okay Airways is potentially Sukhoi's biggest client in China - according to head of Sukhoi sales dept., they have shown interest in purchasing 50 planes.

Rumour is IFC is holding negotiations with some North European (probably British) airline about those 8 aircraft they ordered in Farnborough. And if the deal 'goes well' total number of SSJs in this order will rise to 28 by the end of 2014.

Is it Cityjet? They've been pretty open about how they like the plane, but it's not certified for London City operations so that might be an issue.

That was my first guess too. At least i remember reading about their interest in SSJ back in May.
Anyway, i'm sure if it's an issue it can be solved before the first aircraft is delivered.

Hmmm, looks like this livery is interesting for a Russian carrier:

Center-South Airlines SSJ-100-95B, "75th Anniversary" (reg. RA-89007)

No, no... it's Coat Saver! (Referring to a paint commercial from my country) Jk...

Anyways, the rationale for the name change was, as all of us told ourselves, the Sukhoi SSJ production is now in full swing that it has already gone from the testing and launch stages, hence the need for a thread name change.

There are, but they were postponed till 2016 - it's SSJ NG with 130-140 seating capacity. Postponement was caused by the fact that it's currently impossible due to some technical reasons to properly unificate this aircraft with SSJ100 without hurting SSJ100 program itself. There's no genereal consensus over why 2016. Some say UAC just wants to wait and see how SSJ100 program goes and concentrate all resources on it. Others think Sukhoi is not even sure about demand for its 140-seated jet. There's also a wild theory that Sukhoi is waiting for MS-21 to try and crossbreed SSJ with it to maybe come up with 'something in between'.

Perhaps Sukhoi/UAC doesn't want to offer a stretched SSJ yet because they might want to first fulfill most of the current orders before they develop a new version.

Anybody know the current production rate of the SSJ, and approximately how many years it will take to fulfill the existing orders?
