First time contributing to this thread, and Helem, you have documented your journey to Indonesia with Sky superbly well. Even for a chartered flight, I can see Sukhoi Superjet 100's potential to become a great competitor to Embraer's E-Jets and Bombardier's CRJ aircraft. And I notice that not a lot of airlines have signed up yet to operate that sleek-looking aircraft, which rivals not just Embraer and Bombardier, but also in some way, Airbus. I can see the Superjet's long road to success; it just needs expanded marketing and outreach to potential buyers, as well as convincing to airlines that Russian-built aircraft is becoming more modern and sophisticated as ever.

Also in my first contribution, it looks like the Superjet has reached Southeast Asia... with Lao Central Airlines (reg. RDPL-34195).

Indonesia.
Land of a thousand islands.
Sometime between scraps of land, randomly scattered in the vast ocean, scurried fragile little crafts, skirting reefs and discovering more and more territory. Palm trees, coconuts, white sand and incredible in its beauty sky.

Today in the sky every hour climb hundreds of aircraft. The country is home to just under 300 million people, it is the fourth most populous state in the world. Air transport market is in a phase of active growth. Here you can find quite exotic cars, many of which are no longer produced in Europe or America have become museum pieces.
Airlines are experiencing an acute shortage of aircraft.

Recently, the sky has become a home for Russian airliner Sukhoi Superjet 100, which has already managed to bump into here hundreds of hours and leave behind thousands of miles astern. As our plane is flown in Indonesia? What do they think about it the passengers and the pilots? What to feed on board the Superjet and what beauty can be seen through the window of "dry"?

April 16
Early morning. Jakarta wakes up. On the streets, honking desperately, pour out endless streams of cars and bikes. Minutes - and transportation arteries are clogged. The city stands in the dense traffic jams. The road to the airport "Halim Perdanakusuma", where the office of the carrier Sky Aviation, takes almost two hours.

image hosted on flickr

The airline Sky Aviation was founded in 2010 and operates scheduled and charter flights to regional Indonesia. The park includes five aircraft Fokker F50, one Boeing 737 aircraft and one (until one) plane Sukhoi Superjet 100. Also there are some very small machines with a capacity of up to 30 passengers.

At 10 am, the sun was hot like fresh yellow card. The feeling that the earth melts beneath their feet. The air bubbling haze, blurring the outlines of buildings and airplanes. From the office of Director General of Sky Aviation Chrisman Tarigana offers not just a chic look - it seems that the window on the screen projected photo montage. Planes filled all the space platform. A great place for spotting.

After a few minutes there, and the owner's office. Chrisman Tarigan without undue sentimentality begins the story about the realities of air travel in Indonesia. This area is called "the land of a thousand islands". Tourism industry is on the rise, local residents are also quite actively migrating. Water transport is not always convenient. For a long time ... A very long time.

Chrisman Tarigan: "The events of last year - a catastrophe Superjet - claimed the lives of our colleagues. But we will not succumb to emotions, and before making a decision about the fate of the contract to purchase the liner, have decided to await the outcome of the investigation. Disaster, unfortunately, in aviation sometimes happen. Just recently, in Indonesia, there was an incident with a Boeing 737 aircraft of another airline. It is important to understand what caused the crash. And when it was determined that the incident has nothing to do with the technical condition of the aircraft, we did not change our plans for the purchase of Sukhoi Superjet 100 ".

November 22, 2012 Indonesian aviation authorities validated the type certificate for the aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100, which also authorizes the export and use of aircraft of this type in Indonesia without restrictions.

Chrisman Tarigan: "With regard to the existing route network Sky Aviation aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 has several advantages over other machines in its class. It can carry off and land on short runways. In Indonesia, a lot of these airports. Low fuel consumption is also an important parameter for us. In addition, we analyzed a number of important parameters for the comfort of passengers, including the noise level in the cabin, as well as the size of the cabin and the amount of luggage racks. Here Sukhoi Superjet 100 is also superior to competitors in its class. "

Recently, Sky Aviation has opened a new route Makassar - Sorong - Dzhayapura.
He performed on the aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100. Each segment of the route takes approximately two hours. The ferry has a similar ride takes passengers about a week.

Chrisman Tarigan: "It is this route for SSJ100 was chosen by chance. Airlines and competitors on the route used is not new planes. We offer our passengers more comfort, and it is to our advantage. Also in Sorong and Dzhayapure runway length substantially less than 2000 meters. Now the daily flying ship is 8:00. We are expanding our route network and planned to raid SSJ100 will be 11 hours a day. "

The contract between JSC "Sukhoi Civil Aircraft" and the airline Sky Aviation was signed in 2011 at the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS 12 SSJ100 aircraft with deliveries by the end of 2015.

Configuration salon SSJ100: the first three aircraft - 12 business class + 75 economy class, the remaining nine aircraft - 8 business class + 90 economy class.
According to the agreement after sales support by SuperJet International (SJI).

February 27, 2013 the first of 12 Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft manufacturer with the serial number 95022, came to Indonesia and deposited the fleet of the airline Sky Aviation, received registration PK-ECL. March 23, 2013 airliner made its first domestic commercial flight from Makassar to Sorong. On the flight there were 67 passengers, and the flight took about two hours.
Next delivery of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 is planned for the second quarter of 2013. As long as one airline SSJ 100, but before the end of 2015 the carrier will be in the park for 12 cars. This will open 48 new routes.

Evening. Traffic jams are still binds the city. On the road to the airport has pretty nervous - sometimes you get the feeling that to budge will never fail. But exactly at 21:00 teletrap, stuck to the fuselage, and the plane rolled repel from the terminal building. At 00:30 we are in Makassar. Airport "Sultan Hasanuddin." Hence airline Sky Aviation makes a flight Makassar - Sorong - Dzhayapura.

Departure is scheduled for 6 am. Registration begins two hours. Meet the crew. Commander Qeru Tripalriandu, today occupies the right seat Stefano Sansalone - Flight Instructor SJI. He was preparing the crew for Sky Aviation and despite the role of co-pilot in the flight control technology to work. It is standard practice for the commissioning of the new commanders.

Quickly dawns. Despite the fact that the internal clock is perceived as a continuation of the previous morning, endless days on the calendar is April 17. Passengers are being developed in the cabin, flight attendants spend peredpoletny instruction.

Short run, the gap between ... Under the wing of floating rice fields, gradually giving way to the water surface.

image hosted on flickr

It takes only a few minutes and we already occupy their transport to 35,000 feet. Flight attendants serving passengers embarking on meals and drinks.

Duration of flight segment Makassar - Sorong is two hours, and one of the passengers decided to take a nap. The correct solution, and a senior flight attendant Gieta Yuliana approves of it.

This shot for me - one of the most valuable. My favorite genre ..

Chief designer liner Vladimir Lavrov looks different from the image of the Main, which exists in the minds of most ordinary people. Sternly frowning eyebrows, horn-rimmed glasses, the crowd around the suite ... We have nothing. When a bus carrying from the terminal to the liner, Vladimir Nikolaevich got out of a backpack camera with a telephoto lens, and then opened the window and began to shoot my surprise there was no limit. Chief Designer - spotter! And at the same time calm, charming, in love with aviation people. With a smile, regardless of the preparation of the crew of the Channel, he slowly begins the story of its creation.
"Every customer has special requirements. Since Sky Aviation was one of the first customers, "Sukhoi Civil Aircraft", we are treated with special attention to their wishes in terms of interior layout and passenger accommodation. Now you can appreciate a great seat pitch, width and interior passage, the size of bins. Flight attendants will appreciate the spacious kitchen. All of this has been developed in direct contact with the customer, who wished to create in the cabin liner conditions not inferior to the level of comfort salons Boeing and Airbus. If you take the width of the passage SSJ100, even when serving drinks and meals people can move about the cabin, which significantly increases the comfort of both passengers and cabin crew. "

Vladimir Lavrov: "To validate the aircraft type certificate was presented to the delegation of the aviation authorities of Indonesia, which demonstrated all the necessary certification documents. The reality of the operation of aircraft in the country - high temperatures and high humidity - very different from the conditions in Russia.

It is said that every plane in the establishment and subsequent certification runs a set of tests. Sukhoi Superjet 100 is no exception. We have taken the whole expedition to study the behavior of systems on board ship at high temperatures. At the initial stage, we organized an expedition to Armenia. In Yerevan, the plane was tested at ambient temperatures up to 40 degrees. The next phase of testing took place in the United Arab Emirates, where the temperature reached 45 degrees. But the plane is designed so that it can ensure reliable operation and more extreme temperatures. Of course, we felt liner parallel and in different weather conditions: cold, snow, sleet, wind. "

image hosted on flickr

Vladimir Lavrov: "The first production car we were released for the airline Armavia and Aeroflot. The aircraft is constantly being improved, and in the liner for the airline Sky Aviation already has differences in configuration from the "first signs". The design is perfected, improved comfort for the crew and technical staff in the maintenance of aircraft systems. These works do not cease to this day. Similarly, do the other manufacturers, it is a normal workflow. Market requirements are constantly increasing, and you can not stand still. In this sense, is particularly valuable experience in commercial operation. And we continue to accumulate it, introducing new solutions for aircraft that are available now and will be available in the future.

If we talk about the operation at high temperatures, we have carried out improvements on the part of a central air system and bleed air from the engines to improve performance and increase reliability. A number of work that touched the passenger equipment. Here, inside the liner of Sky Aviation, you can see the panel with individual air cooling. Some improvements sometimes seem small, but we believe that for any questions and comments carriers should be treated carefully. There are no trifles. "

image hosted on flickr

Vladimir Lavrov: "When the new machine" stands on the wing ", the manufacturer continuously records the difficulties that are found in commercial operation and makes the necessary changes in the design of new aircraft. Aircraft raised earlier also "do not forget" - they are, as far as everyday language, also "upgrade" manufactured according to service bulletins. Period localization of so-called "childhood diseases" are all, without exception, new liners, no matter who the manufacturer. These diseases are related and construction, and provide the necessary adaptability. Unadjusted nuances do not always find in the process of certification testing and factory inspections, many things become apparent only in the operation of aircraft in different climates, with different intensity operations. This is the experience that we need. This is the experience that the company "Sukhoi Civil Aircraft" gets at the moment.
Life is not static, it constantly presents us with new challenges. And we have to find ways to address them in order to ensure a successful aircraft entering the market. And we are grateful for the cooperation with our operators.

Today I'm on the board of our standard machines. This is a complex and mixed feelings. I remember the first flight of the aircraft ... Certification tests, the first commercial flight ... And now we're flying with passengers in Indonesia, Sulawesi Island of Papua New Guinea. On the one hand, I feel a certain satisfaction. On the other - a sense of great responsibility, because we have to do everything to ensure a successful operation, even in such a remote region. We make this all possible efforts and will do so in the future. "

image hosted on flickr

Vladimir Lavrov: "Indonesia - an amazing country. There are very nice people, they enjoy every minute of life. Fun fact: their language is no abuse. The worst thing here - to tell a person that he is impolite. In Indonesia, not the accepted answer companion refused, saying "no" in the face. They can leave a response, but by all means be avoided the word "no." Communication, attention, respect, stand in Indonesia in the first place.

Catastrophe May 9, 2012 was an ordeal for everyone who works in the company "Sukhoi Civil Aircraft". I flew to the site of the tragedy on May 10. It was an incredible hit. And the "dry" and Sky Aviation lost most expensive people ... The pain can not be described ... But even when the causes of the accident were not yet known, I always felt very attentive to her, sincere participation by all the people around them: the military, rescue workers, experts ... This is very valuable and is in the heart forever. "

Meanwhile, the commander reported that the aircraft began to decline, and bortprvodniki asked to fasten seat belts.

Sorong. Amazing airport. Children play soccer on the runway in between takeoffs and landings liners. This area is in the northwest of the island of New Guinea and Indonesia also belongs to one of the centers of the oil and gas industry of the country. Aviation Security Service had to inspect the strip before each take-off or landing, which is signaled by a siren. From the roar of its engine noise and children fall to the ground and plug your ears with your fingers.

image hosted on flickr

Maintenance SSJ100 liner in less than half an hour, and the children to have to release the runway. First of all planes.

While the ship is flying the route Sorong - Dzhayapura - Sorong, has time to figure out what machines are used herein other carriers.

Meanwhile, the weather deteriorates rapidly. Storm clouds envelop the airport from all sides and starts pouring rain.

While raging tropical storm, Superjet time to make the flight to Dzhayapuru and come back. Siren announces the imminent arrival of the liner, SAB routinely sweeps the runway and a few seconds later, in the final approach landing lights light up. Another minute and the board for the uneven concrete strip.

The liner is met.

"Bump" at the airport and no flight attendants greeted with a constant smile pulling up the ladder.

There is a photo of Yakutia on the previous page.

Mods, can we get the thread title changed please? Maybe just to Sukhoi Superjet 100 or something? Thanks.
