In addition to the set up of Dept of Rail Transport in September 2015 with the exchange of Railway land at Makkasan - mae Nam station including Bang Chak refinery and km 11 to Ministry of Finance to write off 83 billion Baht debts, Engineering Council of Thailand demands investment on R & D of rail transport to increase the number of railway track from just 3000-4000 km to 40000 km to cover all 77 provinces if Thailand.

Remedy for SRT Illness is to create Dept of Rail Transport to become reality by the end of 2rd Quarter of 2015 with 3-10 year transition period despite of strong protest by SRT Union since it hurts their selfish interests even though MoT insisting that Dept of Rail transport does not hurt them

Finally, Cabinet has approved much needed 8.140 billion Baht funds for extra works on 3 contracts of red line commuters from Bangsue to Rangsit which take another year to finish which can be broken down in the following

Contract 1: Bangsue Central and EMU Maintenance center along with Chatuchak station handled by STECON and Unique - getting 4,315 Million Baht in addition to the original budget of 29,826 Million Baht due to the longer platform on the 3rd floor from 230 meter to 600 meter for High Speed train + 8 tracks for intercity train at 2nd floor + track 4 to allow better traffic control since the growing traffic will turn asymmetric traffic into symmetric traffic along with the new tracks that goes into and go out of Bangsue Central - delayed by 8% due to the bombs and flood of 2011
Contract 2: track and station buildings from Chatuchak station to Rangsit by ITD getting 3,352 Million Baht in addition to the original budget of 21,235 Million Baht to add the 4th track. delayed by 30% due to the attrition warfare with those slum dwellers
Contract 3: Electro-mechanic including electrification and EMU - 473 Million Baht in addition to the original budget of 28,899 Million Baht - still up to the negotiation with the bidder winner (Mitsubishi - Hitachi - Sumitomo) to get the final result during the Negotiation between Big Too and Japanese PM in Tokyo on 10 Feb 2015

This has effectively delayed the project to be done in 2018 instead of 2017 as the 1st Contract (Bangsue Central and EMU Maintenance center along with Chatuchak station) is delayed by 8% while Second contract (Chatuchak station - Rangsit) is delayed by 30% due to the bitter negotiation with slum dweller at Lak Hok or so.

However, the cabinet also asks Ministry of Finance to deal with expenditure of Red line commuter -

http://www.isranews.org/isranews-oth...ath_36285.html
http://www.dailynews.co.th/Content/e...B8%94%E0%B8%87

Now, Mitsubishi - Hitachi - Sumitomo Consortium demand SRT and MoT to accept the price for electrification and electro-mechanic and EMUs at 35000 Million Baht while SRT and MoT insisting the price at 30000 Million as the maximum acceptable price. Expect the termination of the bidding soon.

Here is how Donmueang station will be like after the modification from 3 track to 4 track and Donmueang station will have to accommodate both Airport Link extension and standard gauge line to Nong Khai and Map Taphut - and both Donmueang station for red line commuter and Donmueang station for Airport Link will be on the same site - a mini Bangsue Central without doubt

Why the individual viaducts for each rail line? Are there no switches on the approach lines (i.e. each line is isolated from the others)?

This is the design to show on video - the actual design in blue print will have a lot more details which cannot be put into the presentation.

On the 3rd floor, 4 platforms will be assigned for the Southern standard gauge train 6 platforms will be assigned for Northern and Northeastern standard gauge lines and 2 platforms will be assigned for Eastern line standard gauge including Airport Link extension

Finally, the cabinet has approved 8.14 billion Baht for readjusting Bangsue Central as well as red line commuter to have 4 tracks with the stretching of platform to 630 meter for High Speed train and Airport Link at the 3rd floor while the 2nd floor has been settled for red line commuter and intercity service - to be opened in 2018 --- with the condition that the 3rd contract with Mitsubishi - Sumitomo - Hitachi have been settled ... Samian Naree station and Lak Hok station will have to be constructed instead of just future stations

SRT pledge to correct 4 issues which have become bones of contention during the meeting at Miracle Grand Hotel on 17 Feb 2015:

1. Need to erect the steel net fence to prevent illegal level crossing - agree to erect the steel net fence to prevent illegal level crossing under the flyover across the tracks
2. the parking for bicycles - will designate in all stations
3. U-Turn road South of Ek Thaksin road - agree to erect so ..
4. Lak Hok station => SRT finally agrees that Lak Hok station is too vital to be designated as future stations, so it has to be constructed NOW.

SRT also show the modified version of red line commuter - and more talk at Amari Donmueang Airport Hotel on 27 Feb 2015
