Here is more details on Surat Thani - Hatyai - Songkla (324 km) double tracking - the actual double tracking is 321 km - which is to be split into 2 sections

1. Surat Thani - Hat Yai - 291 km - 58 stations and stops - Surat Thani station major renovation excluded as it has become a part Chumporn - Surat Thani double tracking

2. Hat Yai - Songkla - 29 km - - there will be at grade section on km 928 + 643 to km 930 + 900 (Songkla line) and km 941+ 600 (Songkla line) - km 952 + 500 (Songkla line) with station at Talad Phawong and Nam Krachai

becoming elevated track from km 930 + 900 to km 941+ 600 (Songkla line) and km 952 + 500 (Songkla line) to the EOL at km 957 + 860 (Songkla line) due to the urban encroachment ... with elevated stations at Klong Hae (near Klong Hae floating market), Ban Koh Mee, Thung Yai, Khao Roob Chang and Songkla terminus at the western end of the old Songkla terminus building which has been preserved

the first 2 sets (13 carriages/set) for the new aircon carriages from CNR Changchun will be delivered to Laem Chabang deep sea port on 10 July 2016 and commissioned to run Nakhon Phing express in August 2016 - existing carriages will be refurbish with purple and yellow livery with major renovation of toilets at 200000 Baht per carriage - with the first 148 third class carriages first and then the other carriages from 2015 to 2017 with first phase to be done in September 2016

the 308 BCFs from Er Shi will be commissioned once the first 150 BCFs delivered in September 2016 and the other 158 BCFs delivered in November 2016 to be assigned for the lucrative Lad Krabang ICD - Laem Chabang route

4 VIP Reserve saloons will be renovated to make money for special trains

Even though the bidding for 50 new carriages have to be cancelled, they will draft better TORs for the second bidding while they consider leasing 20 new locos to deal with loco shortages

Plan for bidding of double tracking of 2 sections of Southern line after the cabinet has approved the 167 km Prachuab Khirikhan -Chumporn double tracking at 17,249.90 Million Baht which is to be on bidding in May - August 2016 and contract signed in September 2016

1. the 165 km Nakhon Pathom - Hua Hin at 20,145.03 Million Baht - to be on bidding in May 2016 and contract signed in October 2016

115 Sleeper Passenger Coach Set

The 115 Sleeper Passenger Coach Set by CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles that was ordered are being assembled and the first three carriages will be arriving in July,
where it will be used on the route Bangkok - Chiang Mai on August 5.

All 115 carriages can handle a speed up to 120 km/h and will all arrive in December, where it will be used for the following main lines.

Bangkok - Ubon Ratchathani
Bangkok - Nong Khai
Bangkok - Hat Yai

Modifying 8 BCFs + the old Break Van carriages which generally being attached behind the cargo trains for railway men who control cargo trains to have solar power sets with 160 W per set + 2 sets of 160 AH Gel Lead Acid Battery of VRLA Deep cycle model so as to run electricity to add more comforts to those railway men including LED marker light, illuminating light and electric fans + USB Smart Phone battery chargers

it takes 10 - 15 hours for fully charged for the normal daylight and it will take 3 days to spend the electric power if you run the fan - 7 days if not running the fan

In response to the termination of Peninsular express (Hatyai - JB Sentral) on 18 May 2016, those SRT passengers will have to reasjust the way to travel according to the following schemes until further notice:
1. In case of travelling from Hat Yai to Butterworth, it will go through the following process:
1.1 taking Shuttle 949 departed from Hatyai 13.05 to arrive at Padang besar at 15.00
1.2 taking commuter to Butterworth on the following trains:
- Depart Padang besar 15.30 to Butterworth 17.15
- Depart Padang besar 18.30 to Butterworth 20.38
- Depart Padang besar 20.40 to Butterworth 22.25
1.3 Alternatively, taking ETS to Butterworth in the following train
- Depart Padang besar 16.15 to Butterworth 17.58
- Depart Padang besar 17.15 to Butterworth 19.08
2. In case of travelling from Hat Yai to KL Sentral, it will go through the following process:
2.1 taking Shuttle 949 departed from Hatyai 13.05 to arrive at Padang besar at 15.00
2.2 taking ETS to KL Sentral in the following train
- Depart Padang besar 16.15 to KL Sentral 21.50
- Depart Padang besar 17.15 to KL Sentral 23.05
3. In case of travelling from Hat Yai to JB Sentral, it will go through the following process:
3.1 taking Shuttle 949 departed from Hatyai 13.05 to arrive at Padang besar at 15.00
3.2 taking ETS to Gemas in the following train
- Depart Padang besar 20.00 to Gemas 03.40 AM (next day)
3.3 taking ES45 from Gemas to JB Sentral
- Depart Gemas 04.10 AM to JB Sentral 08.10 AM
4. the alternative route is to follow this plan:
4.1 take IE 35 all the way to Padang Besar - departed from Bangkok 14.45 to arrive at Padang besar at 08.55 AM (Next Day) - with high risk not to reach ETS that depart at 09.55 AM
4.2 take ETS at 09.55 AM to reach KL Sentral 14.35
5. the other alternative route is to follow this plan
5.1 take SP 37 to Sugei Golok and then take a bus or taxi from Rantau Panjang to Pasir Mas
5.2 take Eastern Rakyat (AKA Express Timuran) depart from Pasir Mas 20.04 to reach JB Sentral 11.50 AM

Now, I just got the report from Thai railfans that IE 35/36 de facto being shortened to Padang besar and Utara commuter will fill the job to head to Butterworth due to the fact that YDM4 being returned to India after the end of the lease.

Double tracking from Denchai to Chiang Mai - using the 4th choice 189 km - passing 4 provinces, 10 districts, 30 communes with 18 stations
the at grade section 128.35 km
the elevated section 45.68 km through national park, and reserved forests
tunnel 14.97 km
total cost 61,220 Million Baht

Denchai - Lampang - Hang Chai will follow the same old route with the curve correcting to ensure max speed of 120 kph
Hang Chat - Chiang Mai will follow the new route until it reaches Sala Phalat with max speed of 160 kph

1. Pak Pan station - renovated and expanded as small station
2. Kaeng Luang station - Built anew as small station
3. Huay Mae Ta halt
4. Ban Pin station - Built anew as a Large station
5. Pha Khan station - Built anew as small and elevated station as it is within forest area
6. Pang Puay station - Built anew as small station
7. Mae Chang - renovated and expanded as small station
8. mae Moh station - built anew at the new place - Mid size station
9. Sala Pha Lad station - Built anew as small station
10. Mae Tha station - renovated and expanded as small station
11. Nong Wua Thao station - Southern suburb of Lampang city - Built anew as small station
12. Nakhon Lampang - Specially Large station - by Major renovation to accommodate both existing railway and High Speed train
13. Hang Chat station - Built anew as small station Container Yard near Highway 1039
14. Sala Mae Tha station - Built anew as small and elevated station
15. Lam Phun station - Built anew as a Large station to accommodate both existing railway and High Speed train
16. Pa Sao station - Built anew as small and elevated station since it is flood prone area
17. Saraphi station - Southern Suburb of Chiang Mai city - renovated and expanded as small station - with Container yard near Highway 121 with access to Hgih way 11 to reach Northern Industrial estate in Lamphun - Locomotive depot and maintainance center
18. Chiang Mai station - terminus - Specially Large station - by Major renovation to accommodate both existing railway and High Speed train

Those station are more of the renovated stations rather than built anew

There will be no station between Hang Chat station - Sala Mae Tha station and Sala Mae Tha station - Lamphun station since it has been built on the new route

the old route is for tourists

Locotive Depot and maintainace center at Saraphi
Container yard at Hang Chat (Northern suburb of Lampang City) and Saraphi (Southern Suburb of Chiang mai city)
