Finally, all the Southern railway trains including the line to Nakhon Srithammarat Branch line have resumed the services on 20 Jan 2017 even though the repaired section will need to drive at the slower speed

Northerners shocked to learn that Denchai - Chiang Rai - Chiang Khong postponed from 2017 - 2018 to 2021 due to the issue with EIA clearance as the line has passed through the mountains and forests - despite of the fact that the EIA document have been done in October 2016 - this Denchai - Chiang Rai - Chiang Khon has a price tag of 76,980 Million Baht - 73,172 Million Baht for construction Land exappropriation on 7,292 plot of 9,661 Rai (1545.76 hectares) at 3,803 Million Baht and it takes 48 months to be done - they are worried about this project as it is the great measure to boost up the economic of Northern region

The Cabinet on Tuesday instructed the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to hurry to call bids quickly for five double-track railway projects and complete the tendering process within three months, Deputy Transport Minister Pichit Akrathit said yesterday.

The SRT has started dividing the five routes into 13 contracts from the previous five contracts, in line with the order of a government-sponsored panel tasked with supervising the procurement processes of all state agencies. The Lop Buri-Pak Nampo route worth Bt23 billion was split into two civil-works contracts and one contract for installation of the signalling system.

SRT acting governor Anon Luengboribun said that the state rail agency's board will call a meeting on April 6 to scrap the previous terms of reference for the these five routes and approve the new set. The creation of the new TOR is in line with orders from the panel supervising the procurement of all state agencies to ensure bid competition and transparency. Anon added that the Hua Hin-Prachuap Khiri Khan route was expected to be put in the bidding first due to its lowest project value.

When Airport link extension to U-Tapao airport via Pataya and Donmueang airport via Bangsue Central has not been realized yet, the section from Ban Ploo Taluang to Sattahip Port (AKA Juk Samet port) has been cleared for revival with the construction of U-Tapao International Airport and the shuttle train services from Pataya to U-Tapao as a temporary measurements but it would be better to add Lad Krabang - Pataya - U-Tapao shuttle train service to feed into Airport Link though
