What time of the year is it best to visit Tozeur (توزر)? Also, what are your favorite places to visit of Tunisia? I saw that Sfax was nice...

And when will La Galite be open for visitor or is this permanently forbidden??

Are there many Italian people still living in Tunis?? Or is this unknown?

Italians Tunisians
According to the last census more than 900 Italians Tunisians still lives in Tunisia and more than 2000 more live permanantly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunisian_Italians

Tozeur
The best time to visit the whole south is October or May
While the north of Tunisia is getting chilly, the weather in the south is still mild. Use the oasis town of Tozeur as a base to explore the spectacular canyons and gorges of the Sahara. If you're there over Christmas, you can join the knees-up that is the Festival of the Oases (Dec 26-29).

Where to stay: This is a boutique-free zone so the best option is one of the upmarket chains - either Eldorador Ksar Rouge or Sofitel Palm Beach in Tozeur, both offered by Wigmore.

Where to eat: Le Petit Prince is a local institution offering lamb dishes in various guises.

What to buy: It's the date-picking season so there are fresh ones everywhere. And desert shoes (they make great slippers) made of camel skin.

La Galite
La galite is an archipel and actually there is an ongoing project to develop a sustainable tourism out there including an eco village a permanent shuttle linking the archipelago to the continent via Tabarka

I found this link ( in french tough)

Hey big thanks for the information, Tounsi, those catacombs in Sousse would definitely be worth checking out!

Tozeur dates, and any kind of dates, are hard to get around here and can be expensive, sampling them over there would be great treat!!

I will try to remember all of this you said, it would make for quite a good trip... one more question though. How long should a good trip to Tunisia take, are we talking several days or a couple of weeks or more? I want to plan well if I ever get the chance to go .

At least 2 week if your planning to visit the whole country otherwise if you stick to the north and the central esat 10 days would suffice .

Bonjour
