^Yes, Red Rock and Valley of Fire are impressive parks in Vegas. Lake Mead is also great for water and land recreation. As far as the city lifestyle, visitors and locals head for the Strip for some of the best shopping, dining, nitelife and entertainment around.

Speaking of Red Rock, I was there yesterday for some wildlife spotting.

Loft style living in the $700,000 range, that is how much the developers are asking for these brand spanking new lofts.

What an interesting thread about Las Vegas. Good job.

^Thanks. A short drive from the Strip is the village at Monte Lago with shops and restaurants. The retail area does not look like it is doing well but basing from the construction of homes and condos in this area it wont take long for it to start picking up.

My friend and I had a late breakfast today at this restaurant. I ordered Scrambled eggs with Chicken and Mushrooms topped with melted Provolone cheese and sliced Avocado while he ordered Bacon and Eggs with pancake. I took some photos of the area while waiting for our food.

how average is the price of these kind of houses ?
it's such impressive to see how a desert is becoming a big suburbia without interests? but it's so fascinating i agree ... i think i could live this way of life easily i guess... it's so a waste land with lot of opportunities , whatever... with the casinos what are the others societies which employee a lot in Vegas i'm wondering... i hope not all Vega's citizens work on the strip

For a very long time this past two decades, Vegas was one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. The Strip is only part of Vegas and it employs majority of the citizens residing in Vegas. Away from the Strip is a community of over 2 million people. Aside from the Tourism related jobs, you can also find jobs that you would normally find in any society. Health Care, Education, Construction.........

Here are more photos taken on the way to Lake Las Vegas. Lake Las Vegas is impressive but not the most impressive in Vegas. Summerlin which encompasses 22,000 acres of master planned community is even more impressive.

we definitely love to come back to las vegas again and again but because of the economic meltdown...we can only afford to admire your great photos in and out of da strip!

Thanks, next time as far as gambling, limit your allowance for it and goodluck. I live here and I stay away from gambling. The newest casinos that have opened up are impressive and the upcoming ones are equally impressive so when you come back you'll have something different to experience.

Regarding Lake Mead, I have not done kayaking in a while but one of these days I'll take a trip down there to take more photos. My kayak is stored at my family's garage and it's a hassle sometimes to pick it up and go.

Not to be confused with Lake Mead these photos are from Lake Las Vegas which is a 300 acre man made lake adjacent to the even bigger man made Lake Mead.

Thanks for the pics of Lake Las Vegas! I've seen that place on the web before and thought it looked really nice. Especially for those who can afford it.

^The place is nice but it is around 30 to 45 minute drive from home so I don't go there often.

Went for a drink at the Captains Cove at the Lakes. This place is a very short 5 minute drive from home. An easy walk if I did not have to work today.
