From what I understand it was just quiet while they redesigned the base to show off the School of Arts building more. The latest designs submitted to council are from earlier this month.

All the new towers on the GC are a breath of fresh air. The place is, to be honest, pretty run down and trashy on the whole. New faces in the skyline are welcome.
Happily, all the new towers are very nicely done. |

True. I can't decide which modern part of GC I like best. Southport or Broadbeach?

I don't love Southport but it is improving. Marty I don't know what part you are referring to as run down? As most buildings on the Gold Coast were built in the last 30 years, it would be the least run down big city in Australia (compared to say, capital cities).

I like Broadbeach myself.
When I say "run down" I really mean street level... Surfers is pretty dated/tacky/in need of a facelift IMO. A lot of major areas on the Gold Coast are a bit like that. Just a little "tatty" around the edges. Not all of it, of course. Broadbeach is probably the nicer part for sure. |

The Esplanade in my opinion has the biggest opportunity to rejuvenate Sufers Paradise. I mean how many restaurants and shops line the Esplanade - very few! Soul will help to change that and hopefully we'll have a rejuvenated Esplanade. It has such potential and I'd eventually love to see all cars removed from the Esplanade and for it to be turned into a pedestrian zone.

Their economy is in better shape than most other states and their population growth is not that far behind SEQ. Maybe it's even overtaken us by now (stats will tell us once released).
QLD is fast becoming a victim of bad management. Development is really drying up. |
