Had a walk on the air-conditioned skybridge from Jalan Perak to Pavilion on 04.05.2012. Pretty pleasant and comfortable, I must say.

I don't mind if they further extend the KLCC-BB walkways to more areas, along Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan, all they way to Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan TAR, etc.

KUALA LUMPUR Sept 6 (Bernama)-- The completion of a 142-metre air-conditioned elevated pedestrian walkway will enable locals and tourists to arrive at strategic destinations in the city, without having to sweat under the heat.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Fuad Ismail said, the construction of the RM10 million facility which started in April this year was scheduled to be completed in February 2011.

"I hope when this facilities are completed next year, more and more local and foreign tourist will use the pedestrian walkway to go to other strategic locations in the city such as KLCC (Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre) and Bukit Bintang," he said after visiting work in progress at the project site situated on the KLCC ground floor, here Monday.

The development of the facilities was part of the government's initiative to encourage more people to use public transportation systems, he said.

Petronas contributed RM100 million towards the development of the two-phase facilities to support the government's plans of promoting and encouraging the growth of tourism.

KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd (KLCCH), a wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas was tasked to manage the allocation jointly with DBKL as the main project coordinator for the pedestrian walkways in the city.

Fuad said the second phase of the project would link Impiana Hotel to Jalan Raja Chulan and expected to be completed next year.

Meanwhile, Fuad said Syarikat Prasarana Sdn Bhd (SPNB) would invest about RM60 million to build six other pedestrian walkways near public transportation networks such as monorail and LRT.

The six pedestrian walkways would be constructed at Pasar Seni LRT-Dayabumi, DBKL main building-Sogo Shopping Complex, KTM Commuter-Bandaraya LRT, Jalan Sultan Ismail-Maju Junction- Medan Tunku Monorail station, Plaza Rakyat- Puduraya terminal bus station and Albukhari Mosque-Hang Tuah LRT station.

My walkabout Kuala Lumpur (8 July 2012)

Quote:
There is this place for the Arabs called "Ain Arabia"

Walking towards Prudential Tower

A very peaceful Sunday...

Prestige Tower's new walkway is really nice and cooling, with water cascading by the side of the walkway

Oh my goodness.. I felt so scary walking in KL City Mall strip mall. Most of the shops are not opened and some vacant/deserted.

Standard Chartered Bank has adopted this mini park... but there isn't any plague yet? Rubbish is scattered everywhere too...

The sidewalks in front of Marc Residences...

The air-conditioned walkway is really comfortable. I see alot of tourists using them with good praises as one Westerner said: "Very good idea for a sunny day"

Normally the road crossing here is the most packed in whole of KL.

Passing by Fahrenheit 88 on Bukit Bintang street...

Jalan Raja Chulan

The green building on the left is the global headquarters of Genting Group. Not to far away from here you'll see the miserable offices of Kuok Group (Menara Jerneh, Jerneh is also owned by Kuok).

The vicinity of KL Tower looks deserted.

As I was walking down to The Weld (which is shockingly close to empty) and towards Jalan Tengah... there was this small little run down Indian temple

This is Jalan Tengah, the street behind Jalan Sultan Ismail. The approaching blue building is home to J P Morgan in Malaysia.

Should I head home or to Suria KLCC mall?
