More and more states are making it illegal to text while driving. I don't understand why they need to: common sense and a basic sense of self-preservation should keep people from texting while driving.

When I was younger nobody had to say "don't try this at home" because we weren't complete morons back then.

These days it's different, and people get killed quite often due to people driving whilst texting. People shouldn't drink and drive, or drive without insurance. But obviously this kind of legislation is needed, because of the lack of common sense...

Of course people would have texted whilst driving in the past had they the opportunity, did they not drink and drive?

It just seems to me that typing a text message is something that requires so much of your attention that doing it while you're trying to drive is simply daft. Of course, maybe if I texted more, I'd think I could. Maybe I'm just too old. [Mutters to himself: "Kids today..." Walks away shaking his head.]

Well, maybe when phones had buttons and you didn't need to see them to write...

But nowadays it's even more dangerous.

Idaho is the third state in the U.S. to approve 80 MPH, after Texas and Utah. Studies need to be completed before this takes hold.

While we wait, enjoy this clip from the future host of the CBS Late Show:

There has been a lot of proposed speed limit increases this year, with South Dakota and Montana approving 80 mph. A bill in Nevada is also pending to increase its speed limit to 80 mph, which the governor only has to sign since it passed both houses.

Also, Maryland is likely to approve an increase to 70 mph tomorrow.

Other speed limit increase bills that are pending this year include Michigan (70 to 80), Mississippi (70 to 75), Missouri (70 to 75), Oregon (65 to 75), and Wisconsin (65 to 70).

Anyone who can post a map of all the motorways in Germany with no speed limits?
What about the A20 & E251 in Pommerania. E28 & E30 in the Berlin-area?

This is what I've found. Apparently, the blue stretches are the ones with no speed limit:

When I drove to Chicago last year the 70 mph speed limit was so nice after so many hours with 100 km/h signs, OPP cruisers hiding everywhere and my needle hovering around 140. Having 80 signs in MI would be even better
