that's a very nice tower! It's a real pity it's not close to other towers to add to the density.

The project underwent a major redesign. The architect of the previous designs has been replaced by V8 architects.

Possible new 150 meter tower coming up.
Still premature, allthough they claim they want to start construction in 2017

That 150m box looks very bland and uninspiring, I guess Rotterdam can do better.
I think neo-expressionist, postmodern and new classical / Art-Deco-inspired designs (like New Orleans or the Kollhoff towers like Botersloot) suit the port city much better than the repetetive and cold, sterile modernism, or clumsy brutalism/deconstructivism.

A slight improvement compared to the design before, but sadly inferior to the curvy original design:

I wait for more renders before I judge, but I can understand your opinion. But I'm hopeful with the architect of this one

Even though I'm not a big fan of Kollhoff and the buildings he designed in Rotterdam, I could better get along with the towers of him build in The Hague. But still, the Zalmhaventoren (I think you like that one too?) and New Orleans are for me the best examples of modern buildings with neo-traditional elements in it. Not too opulent and kitsch however the elements are still recognizable in the design.

And agree with you that the first design with the curvy balconies. Personally, I think that the current design still could be a nice addition to the city. But also here still waiting for more renders

Bland and unspiring is the very spirit of Rotterdam. Whenever the city tries to go monumental we end up with monstrosities like De Rotterdam, completely out of proportions, becuse Koolhaas wanted to avoid needle planting and was desperate to leave a mark in the city's skyline. Or Markthal, or dozens of other "inspiring" structures that have been polluting Rotterdam since the 1970s, becuase symmetry and simplicity that defined this hard working city for hundreds of years were "too bland and uninspiring".

I agree with that. There is a lot of potential in Rotterdam, but there is also a mentality of not putting some variation in the high buildings and keep it unspiring. Because we are no Amsterdam and we don't need a cozy environment.
