Cool, i've never been in Mexico City but it looks like you are getting another nice tower, by the way, is that gold or yellow looking building to the left of Torre Mayor new? it looks like there is construction going on there aswell...

You are a good observer. Actually that building is being demolished to make room for another tower, which will be even taller: Torre Bancomer, that it's supposed to be reaching 278 m.

Torre Mayor is getting a lot of new neighbours and won't be alone anymore

That's awesome, it will make a nice cluster of tall buildings together!!!
I wonder why this building is being taken down by sections, will this building cause damage to others near by if it gets demolished all at one?

Well, there are lots of pedestrians all the time, so I guess its just a safety measure.

BTW, here's a new rendering found in the Mexican Forum. All credits to its owner (luisja?). It does not show the other skyscrapers to be built right across Paseo de la Reforma:

This is how the mansion will remain below the Building:

I've heard Mexico City is a little traumatized by fast-dynamite-demolishing buildings because of the great earthquakes..

Yep! and besides that , among the architectural propposals for the BBVA Tower we can find names like Cesar Pelli, Norman Foster, Enrique Norten or Richard Rogers! . . soon we will we have further details about this project . .

In the meantime, Torre Reforma is our "top" official project on process
