Don't worry, mate, I can see all your pictures. It's nice to see pictures of a city that is so seldomly portrayed.

No problems here, too. Interesting place. If I change my mind on not using an airplane, I might pay a visit to this city.

These will be my last photos for a while, because my dog decided to eat my USB cord that I use to download photos onto my computer.

First, a picture of the culprit. Mmm, eating camera accessories is exhausting!

What a brilliant thread! I didn't think there would be much coverage of Mali at all here. I hope to see many of these scenes in person very soon, I'll be visiting Mali in January 2010 for the Festival Au Desert and will be spending a bit of time in Bamako as well. It's great to see pictures of the city and get a sense of the place before getting there.

It's been a long time since I updated this page, so I went out and took some more pictures.

ACI 2000: I posted a few pictures of this relatively new area of town a while back, but was not too happy with the photo quality. So here are some more. Just fyi, land in ACI 2000 is very expensive, so it is attracting mostly office buildings and villas. Like I said before, it's very spread out and there are a lot of empty lots, but there's a great deal of construction going on. It seems like everyday I drive by a building that I don't remember ever seeing before.

A few more of ACI and then a few random shots:

Driving around the border of ACI. You can see how much room there is to grow:

Now some random shots around town:

I'm sorry, I know this next one's just a gas station, but I love shots of just every day stuff. Especially when it's been raining!

I took this picture just outside of Bamako. The bus was heading back into town.

These shots are from "Point G," one of the hills overlooking Bamako proper:

Looking down into town (sorry the sky was dusty):

This is a view of the neighboring hill "Kalouba," where the President's Palace is located along with a couple of Ministries:

Looks really unusual with many architectural treasures, to be honest it's the first time I've seen or heard from this city.

Here's a shot I took while driving across the New Bridge. One of these days I'm going to actually walk across it so I can take some shots without the stupid railing in the way (and without nearly hitting the car in front of me).

A shot of the New Bridge:

The buildings on the other side here belong to a new governmental complex. Again, once I get around to walking the bridge, I'll post a picture up close.

These are banks, I think:

Slightly different angle of buildings I have posted many times already:
