Here is a photo of Yongyu station from Nov 2014:

http://blog.daum.net/_blog/BlogTypeV...&articleno=320

And here is another from March 2015:

http://tor1271.tistory.com/entry/%ED...A7%9B%EC%A7%91

Doesn't seem much has changed.

Korean wikipedia says the station will open in June.

Yeongjong (영종) isn't open yet. Daum Maps says it will open in December 2015. For AREX, Yongyu Imshi (용유임시) is open on weekends and holidays. I rode the train from there a few weeks ago. In fact, it's been open on weekends since March.

The pictures above are of the Yongyu (용유) station on the circulator line, which will open in June. That station is right next to Yongyu Imshi (용유임시). I saw the circulator line testing while waiting for the AREX train to depart.

Inside the trains. This units has been numbered as 3000 series.

The train has been manufactured by Hitachi and Woojin, so this are japanese-style monorail.

I rode the new Daegu Line 3 last week. It felt a little bumpy which was strange for such a new line. Are monorails like that?

It was totally packed because when I rode, it was the first weekend that it was open so most people were riding just for fun. A lot of people walked to the other side at the end of the route to go back.

I noticed the windows behind the seats looked a little hazy compared to the windows on the doors which I thought was strange for a new train car. A little bit later the window turned white and I overheard someone say that there was an advertisement on the outside. It changed back after only a few seconds and this happened only a few times on the whole route. If you look straight into the windows they look normal, but if you look at them (from the inside) at an angle they look hazy.

I plan to go back sometime and take a few pictures from the front of the train.

Yep, that's how I saw it. That photo is when the ad is visible from the outside. It's normally not that hazy.

The windows are designed to go hazy where there are high rise residential towers nearby. It's for the privacy of the residents. Daegu is the first to do this on a monorail.

Compared to a conventional train using steel wheels running on welded rail, a monorail, with its rubber tyre on concrete guideway (monorail guideway) will be not quite as smooth, though perhaps the suspension can be adjusted for a better ride. Other factors affecting ride quality are curve radius and possibly gradients, typically these are more extreme on monorails than on conventional rail, though the ability of monorails to operate in those conditions is an advantage they have.

Though this is a Hitachi website, it applies to all monorail systems:
http://www.hitachi-rail.com/products...feature02.html

Also regarding capacity, this is a good parameter to follow to see where monorail fits in a city-wide transit system (quoted from the above site):
Quote:
(Hitachi)Monorail System offers an alternative for transit corridors with passenger demand equivalent or higher than typically designated for LRT (light rail transit) yet too low to justify a subway system.

I recommend www.monorails.org for over 550 pages on monorail and its benefits.
