Cheras? They already had a huge one at Taman Maluri leh.....which is their largest in Malaysia.......

Robinsons.....hmm.......KL used to have Robinsons a long long time ago. Maybe they should reintroduced em again. Bringing in departmental chains can be a bit risky at times. Many had failed ...for example: Yaohan (the parent collapsed in Japan I think), Chujitsu, Tangs.......

Upscale type of Parkson but still cannot bring customer in does not make any different right?

I hardly see any people shopping in there...still people prefer JJ in 1U.

I think the new Gardens mall at mid valley should have brought in Takashimaya, Mitsukoshi or some new upscale dept. store because the Gardens is supposed to be more upscale.

I guess Pavilion is going to be another same old shopping mall but they did say that they are looking for 30% of new tenants not yet available in Malaysia.

Indeed if Takashimaya or Selfridges are brought in, kl would be 2 steps on becoming the top shopping destination. Anyhow, i doubt the foreign retailers r interested in here for the time being. The market is not yet matured. We have millions here stick to JJ and Isetan shopping experience. It is not easy to break this popularity. I noticed that Debenham is very quiet even on weekends. I hv seen their staffs numbers being trimmed down hard in recent months. Also, Tangs closure was very much squeezed by the kl competitive market beside its trouble parent company. Most of the high end boutiques here depend alot from foreign tourists. But how long can the kl keep pulling the Arabs to shop here? Dubai would certainly be their next preferred destination one day. Our tourism board shld start pulling more tourists from India and of course, the SEA region.

But Takashimaya sell things more expensive than they are suppose to. It's pretty obvious in Singapore.

But still it is a hot shopping spot in Orchard Road. The brand new Starhill Gallery is a good example, there are a lot of rich people in KL desperate to burn cash.

Numerous upcoming luxurious apartments in KL is a sign that KL needs more upmarket brands, or else the money will go elsewhere.
