KINGSTON, ONTARIO (dial-up beware!)

The city has a population of 118,000, and the metro, which includes some pretty rural areas is 152,000. It is the home to Queens University, The Royal Military College of Canada, and some massive prisons.

It was a beautiful day on Saturday when I took these photos with temperatures around 60. The snow here in Eastern Ontario melted early this year. I parked the car north of downtown and walked. Here is what I saw.

Some brutal commie blocks.

I passed this supermarket that was totally abandoned and boarded up, parking lot and all.

Also passed a marina. Kingston has a year round ferry to Wolfe Island, and then one can get another short ferry ride to Cape Vincent, N.Y.

A shot across the harbor of the Military College.

A beautiful park near the huge Kingston General Hospital complex and Queens.

I really liked this old house, which looked like it would be more at home here in Belleville.

I hope this thread wasn't too long. I apologize if it was. I'll leave you with a picture of some Kingston ducks!

Awesome photos! The longer a thread the better! although the size of the images is a bit too big, not all of us have a 20" monitor lol

Kingston for some reason reminds me of Hamilton, ON in some parts, it looks really nice overall, I've only been at the bus station when going from Toronto to Montreal or vice versa, since Coach Canada always makes a stop there, maybe next time I should stop for a day or two and tour around the place

Cheers!

Great thread! I never get tired being surprised of how diverse world can be. This city is so different from mine, the atmosphere sounds surreal for me! Wonderful!

Great pics! Looks like a nice place to visit. Next time I'm on the 401, maybe I'll make a detour!

very nice! is it a large area that's all old stone and brick rowhouses or is that just a small part of downtown?
