You know we have to take a ferry ride over to Bainbridge Island.
It won't take long. Only about 30 minutes.

Those are great shots. You really capture life in Seattle, and it's a truly great city. You know it's a great city when I can make out about four California plates. I wish I could come back to Seattle soon. Just wondering, but have you ever been to the top of Smith Tower? Even better views than the Space Needle. Best part is it's free.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I have been to the top of the Smith Tower a few times. The views are excellent. There is a fee. I think its about $5 or $6 dollars, but well worth every penny.

Really? When I went up, it was free. Oh! It was Monday morning and the doorman was in a good mood. Good times, good times. Anyways, great shots. I hope I have the chance to head back up there sometime soon.

PS, the first picture has exactly 1 building (plus a tiny sliver of another) that was there 10 years ago.

Also a grand total of 2 (plus the sliver) that were there in early 2004. Out of 14 total, including 4 under construction.

Pioneer Square seems a lot less of a tourist trap than Gastown in Vancouver. Why is that?
Pwright, have you been to Duluth, Minnesota? It reminds me of a baby Seattle.

Love the shots, looks like you've been blessed with sun this Winter. With all of my visits to Seattle I never made it to Alki Beach.

Pioneer Square is all about rug merchants, bars, galleries, and homeless shelters. Plus tourists on the Underground Tour. And the phenomenal Elliott Bay Books. And heading for the stadiums. It's an interesting mix.

The whole south end of Downtown has always lacked hotels despite being home to the WS Ferry terminal, Amtrak, pro sports, and a fair amount of general activity. It's certainly the poorer end of Downtown. Even the office district is heavily government rather than private, meaning lower wages and lower expense accounts.

The hotel thing has changed a bit with the Silver Cloud, Hotel 1000, and the Arctic (becoming a Doubletree) added in the past few years, plus a Marriott currently being carved out of the historic Alaska Building. But it's still relatively few compared to the north.

Great set of photos of a really terrific city!

Can't believe there isn't one shot with rain in there! Never been to Seattle without getting wet!

Would love to see some shots of Jimi Hendrix home.

Philadweller, I've never been to Duluth but I can certainly see the connection. Cool comparison.

Awesome shots pwright, I always hope to see a thread by you when I come here (daily lol).
