Crossbows I can see why if they are going to some sports club to shoot them, but bring Chinese broadswords?

IMHO I'm too big of a fan of Alstom's trains in China they'er too non-asian looking and the front looks kinda cheap. I prefer the rolling stock by CNR in Beijing, Shenyang etc. you can't go wrong with stainless steel.

i think they did a great job reinterpreting the design like Nanjing it looks like HK MTR but it got some Singapore in it too.
any news on Line 4 and Line 6's UC progress I never heard anything about them.

Line 4 has just started infrastructure construction this month, fencing has been erected at all major sites and traffic diverted. Line 6 is a lot more interesting, since the Line 6 as we know it (Phase 1 Airport Line) has been merged into the S1 Nanjing-Gaochun Intercity Rail, the metro portion of the line has been redesigned as well, it will now extend northward to Yanziji with 15 underground stations.

Is Gaochun a county or a county level city?

When shall S1 start construction?

So... is it going to be like shenzhen metro line 11? An airport express/metro/reigional rail?

Gaochun is a county, S1 construction started last December.

S1 is still closer to a metro/light rail than commuter rail, its official name is Nanjing-Gaochun Intercity Rail Transit. The line is built like a metro with 100km/h top speed.

I spent 1 day in Nanjing and I will soon upload some pictures of its metro. As for the rolling stock, both lines feature Alstom Metropolis.

7 subway lines of Nanjing under construction this year

Author: Editor:邬楠 2012-08-31 11:02:15
http://www.odtn.com/2012-08/31/content_9919031.htm

Seven subway lines of Nanjing City will be constructed at the same time this year, the reporter learned on August 29, 2012 from the Nanjing subway construction department.
The newly built and planned subway lines run from the Hexi New District to Xianlin, Jiangning, Jiangbei, and even to Gaochun County and Lishui County, etc.
With a length of 85 kilometers, the existing Line 1 and Line 2 have transported nearly one billion persons/times, ranking top in terms of operation capacity across the country.
In the three years to come, Nanjing City will have nine subway lines open to traffic, and their total operation quantity will be 3.5 times as much as it is now. By 2015, the residents of Nanjing City will have nine lines available for their outing, and the scale is equal to that of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) of Hong Kong.

Why are all cities in China planning to use these, sorry, nasty Alstom Metropolis cars? Hangzhou, Nanjing... Shanghai has got lots of them, too. In my opinion, they are the worst train in Shanghai metro being the noisiest and the least smooth in terms of accelerating.

Why not Bombardier or Siemens?

Since they are reliable and comes to a competitive price i guess. I would also think that there are some discounts since they are a good costumer.

So, are you saying e.g. Bombardier is less reliable?
