Any chance Nanjing Metro will overtake Paris by the end of 2014 to become the tenth longest Metro in the world?

Line 10 appears to take part of what is currently Line 1 and extend across the Yangtze River. Will Line 10 open this year? When Line 10 opens, will passengers on the Line 1 trains be able to travel continuously without changing trains at Andemen station?

Most of them

I think it will be after Beijing and Shanghai - Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hongkong, Chongquing, Wuhan.

Hong Kong can't grow that much anymore, can it?

Maybe not that much, but still there are possible extensions:
Ma On Shan line (the brown one) should grow to Hung hom
East Rail should cross the bay
Kwun Tong (the green) to Whampoa
Island line to Kennedy Town

New line is being built - South Island line
plus more to come, like extension of Tung Chung line on the HK island.

That would add a significant amount of stations to the system

No, obviously I mean exactly "fewer than 20".

Because even if there were exactly 20 metros in China, it would be fundamentally impossible for most of them to be in top ten of the world. For the simple reason that 10 is not "most of" 20, let alone 30, and it is impossible for 11 or 16 of Chinese metros to be among top ten of the world, because there is not 11 places in top ten.

Technically speaking he's right, if by 2020 there are 60 metros in China then it would be impossible for the majority of those 60 metros aka 31 or more to be in the Top Ten.

However I beleive what Fabulaz was trying to say was that by 2020 the majority of the Top Ten Metros in the world would be in China in other words more than half eg at least six out of ten.

Listing the Chinese metros I know of:
Operating as of January 2014:
  1. Beijing
  2. Shanghai
  3. Guangzhou (extending to Foshan)

3 chinese metros are already in the top ten:

Shanghai
Beijing
Guangzhou
Shenzhen is already nr 15
Hongkong 16

It's 6 years - a lot of time if you look how many lines are being already built.

HK and CQ are the closest to Paris in terms of length so either of them if Nanjing can't make it.
