OK, I still don't understand how Line 10 trains reverse at Andemen. Do all Line 10 trains arrive and depart from the outbound track? (Likely not, as that would significantly interfere with Line 1 outbound using the same track). Or do they arrive on the inbound track, then turn around somewhere and depart from the outbound track? Or maybe Line 10 is through-running to Maigaoqiao?

Line 10 Andemen has one platform and two tracks of its own on both sides. All trains use one track on one side; The other side is reserved for extension purpose. All trains arrive and reverse from the same track (They will get on the other track right after departure).

Thanks, big-dog. Useful to have an actual answer rather than speculation based on "satellite imagery".

Ah, it seemed strange to have line 10 ending alongside line 1 . But then there are Shanghai's lines 3 and 4...

Is the S8 line at the top of the map open? It doesn't appear to be open on Wikipedia.

Not yet. That map shows the lines opened (line 1/2/10/S1) or to be opened (line 3/S8) by the end of 2014.

Thanks, big-dog. Are the S1 and S8 lines fully integrated with the metro? Are they run like normal lines? Or is there a special arrangement like Line 22 in Shanghai which is basically a short high speed rail line? If they are normal metro lines then their names should be just a number.

Yes those S lines are just B type metro trains with faster average speed. S stands for Suburban (line) I guess. Those lines will extend further to nearby counties so they are longer than other lines.

There are no counties whatsoever in Nanjing. Which prefecture level cities and provinces do Nanjing S train lines extend into where they find counties?

S1 will extend to Gaochun county which merged into Nanjing and became a district of Nanjing last year. S1 phase I and II has 82.7km long;

S8 will extend to Tianchan city (formerly Tianchang county) of Anhui Province. S8 phase I and II has 70.2km long;

S3 will go to He County in Anhui province. There are also planned lines to Chuzhou and Ma'anshan. Anyway, it won't be the first metro to cross a provincial line, there's Shanghai line 11 which has one of its three termini in Jiangsu.

He county is indeed now a county - but it is also in Maanshan.

Does Nanjing have any border with Xuancheng prefecture level city in Anhui province?

What about line S8? According to my data, it should be open now and isolated until line 3 opens. Any pics?

PS: I guess I should start to translate what they have in Ditiezu.
