A big advantage of ground tram is ease of access. Unlike a metro, it is at ground level, so it is not necessary to climb stairs to reach the stop, and obstacles like security checkpoints are not practical either.

The tram stop picture was from an open street stop. How does the Yuantong station tram stop look like?

Also, when you change at Yuantong Station between Metro lines 2 and 10, do you need to pass security check again? Is there a ticket check between the two lines?

P.S. Couldn't imagine Chingqing is so tiny. What about Hong-Kong?
I'm surprised by Chongqing's size too. Just created a new thread for it:

Plus, Hong kong's built-up area is 184, not very big either.

And they still managed to screw it up by having line 3 not finished in time.

That's wrong. You just meaure it from an axis in the middle. Wider gauge will require more rail on the outside but less rail from inside of the radius.

Then you ruin your desired curve radius. If you are running at the minimum curve radius, measuring from axis in the middle (rail centerline) will put you out of spec and your inner rail curves too sharp. You measure curves from the constraining perimeter, in this case the inner rail. If you re-gauge a railway and it's curve radius is 500m you better move the outer rail to keep the inner one at 500m radi.

Is there a separate thread for this Metro or will it be part of the Nanjng Metro thread?

IDK if there is a point for making a thread for this. The metro is still in the proposed stage and it will be a few years before anything noteworthy happens.

Excerpt

China's largest developer, Greenland Group, would invest 31.3 billion yuan ($5 billion) in a subway project in Nanjing as it pushes forward its strategy to engage in massive urban development through financing subway transportation.

According to a memorandum of understanding the company signed with the Nanjing government on Wednesday, the company would participate in the development of the city's Line 5 subway. The engagement would give it access to commercial projects related to the subway, such as construction and land development along the line.

IDK Nanjing Metro cheaped out. Every new line after Line 5 will use B size trains.
