I've read 224.9 km and 225.4 km from different sources, while my data says 221.2 km. I think 224.9 km is correct.

That headlight placement made me die a little inside, christ.
Was it a CNR built train?

In that case Nanjing Metro should be rated the tenth longest metro in the world edging out Paris.

What is the situation regarding S1 and S8? Are they metro or suburban rail?
Why the desingnation "S"?

Suburban Metro like the San Francisco BART or Dalian's Kuaigui System.

No, they are a CSR/Bombardier designed train. They're a 6-carriage A-type set-up with a fleet size of 46 trains.

They're also designed for maximum discomfort when you look at them. The eyes! They're watching you!!

Should S1 and S8 be included as urban rail stats? Sounds more like commuter rail?

The S trains are definitely suburban commuter rail lines like the one in Beijing.
But then again so are the East Rail, West Rail, and Ma On Shan Lines on the Hong Kong MTR system. The Tung Chung Line + Disneyland Resort lines are also also barely 'urban' railways, not to mention the Airport Express...

There are more dilemmas in almost every metro system in the world. Ok, that's not true, but really many systems are pretty hard to distinguish, what is metro and what suburban rail.

Now, the grand plan of Nanjing Metro network from the official website, it didn't say when this whole network is expected to be completed, what it mentioned is there will be 22 lines, of which 14 will be metro lines, and 8 will be suburban lines.
