THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Would like to try yummy biriyanis for a change? The South Park hotel has thrown open a 10-day biriyani fest. You can step in for lunch or dinner at the hotel’s coffee shop till November 15 and relish veg or non-veg biriyanis.

The vegetarian varieties include Subzi Shabnam, which has garden fresh vegetable tossed in butter and fresh spices and gently steamed with cumin- flavoured Basmati rice. Or there is Dingri Dum, which has tender button mushroom delicately broiled with spices, served on a bed of jeera-flavoured Basmati rice. Then there is Paneer Dilkush (shredded cottage cheese koftas cooked in a blend of garlic, tomatoes and baked in a sealed hundi with Basmati rice). Kashmiri Biriyani (Basmati rice slow cooked with saffron, almonds, golden raisins, cashew nuts and dried fruits) ought to be the pick of the lot. Nasha Jalpari (fish, prawns and squid cooked with Basmati rice, saffron, butter and fresh herbs) is a tempting combo in the non-vegetarian menu. Shahi Hyderabadi and Murgh Lajawab is for those who love lamb and chicken respectively. Shahi Hyderabadi has tender lamb pieces cooked with Basmati rice, using herbs, cumin and bay leaves. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A four-member music group from Venezuela will perform at Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan here on November 12. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Thiruvananthapuram is organising the programme.

The Council’s regional officer M.R. Krishnamoorthy said that Gonzalo Teppa, Miguel Siso, Alberto Cheche Requena and Klever Camero were the four artists who would be performing in the city.....
