acc521 In Bologna: 4 - 6 April 2009

I used Bologna as a rest stop as I certainly needed it. It does what a small town should do right. Easy to walk around, lots of great food, bars and cafes and some very interesting architecture - different than what I'd seen in other cities so far. Just don't try to do any grocery shopping on a Sunday afternoon!

The city's art collection and gallery was free to see and there was also a Korean exhibition on which was pretty cool. Since the Korean guy there also spoke English, I got to learn a bit about the Korean language and construction of words.

Very nice pictures of a very nice city. Me and my family often took a rest there on our way to Tuscany.
For how long are you staying in Europe and galleries of which cities can we expect? Are you maybe even going to Vienna?
Looking forward to seeing more photos.

Thanks Franzl, these are the cities I have left between now and the end of May. Vienna is one of the cities I am particularly excited about.

Zurich
Bern
Innsbuck
Salzburg
Vienna
Budapest
Prague
Munich
Nurenburg
Berlin
Copenhagen
Stockholm
Amsterdam
Bruges
Brussels.

After that, I'm in London and will be looking for work and once I'm settled I'll be doing some mega galleries from there.

Trip of a lifetime 'eh

The Aussie dollar has also gone up about 10% against the Euro since I started this trip at the end of Feb so that's a big bonus!

the loggia is what got me

taking the long loggia up the mountain to the church is one of the best aspects of Bologna.

an architectural element that extends from the core of the urban fabric to the outskirts of the city truely brings bologna into its context. this occurs on both a daily(tourist/resident) usage to the religious ceremony that occurs there.

great city!

Wow, you really planned a huge trip - and even three destinations in Austria, promise me to spend a lot of money here .
I guess after it you will have seen more of Europe than most Europeans ever did.
And its nice to hear that at least Australians travelling through Europe benefit from the crisis
