Sorry for the double post but I posted this before we got our own subforum. I think it belongs in this thread. As you can see they have a great deal of work to do still till the interchange is finished. Can't wait.

Thanks for finding this i've been looking for it for a while since it used to be on the EMA website have you got anymore. What i don't understand is the A-E segment according to the key to the left of the page is stated to be 4 lane signalized(i assume means traffic lights etc- not sure though) yet it has grade separated structures(i.e interchanges etc)? I'm pretty sure the government knows not to put traffic lights on a highway after the mess that is the Churchill-Roosevelt highway so I remain hopeful. Thanks for the update has any actual work started yet? As this was developed in 2007.

Sorry that's all I've got. I guess it may be too expensive to put interchanges at all junctions. There was plans to build this highway since I left Trinidad and that was 1997!!! I hope the MOWT website will back soon with all the information.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AECOM Technology Corporation (NYSE: ACM), a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients around the world, announced today that it has been awarded a contract from the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to provide project management services for Phase 1 of the National Highway Network Project, which has an estimated construction value of US$2.44 billion.

The contract, scheduled for six years, will be negotiated on a yearly basis with revenues to AECOM in the first year being worth in excess of US$10 million.

This phase of the program will be delivered in six project packages and will entail the oversight of construction of approximately 125 miles (201.5 kilometers) of highways, highway extensions, new freeways and a new causeway.

“AECOM has recently been involved with a number of highway projects as part of the East-West Corridor Expansion on Trinidad, and we are pleased to build on that experience by assisting the Government with this vital National Highway Network Project,” said AECOM President and Chief Executive Officer John M. Dionisio.

The contract is AECOM’s latest in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, where the company has served clients for more than 20 years.

The Churchill-Roosevelt Highway is the major east-west highway in Trinidad and Tobago. It runs for 24 km (15 miles) from Barataria in the west (where it joins the Beetham Highway) to Wallerfield in the east (south of Arima) where it ends in the former US Army base on Fort Reid. It crosses the north-south Uriah Butler Highway at Valsayn. Constructed during World War II to connect the US Army base with Port of Spain, the highway was named for the two wartime leaders, Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Construction began in December 1941 and was completed in March 1942. Originally reserved for the US forces, the road was turned over to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago on October 24, 1949.

I'm Jamaican and am quite happy for trinidad It was about time an english speaking caribbean island showed that we are not behind all the world.Dont worry I;m not jealous ,because , a new 24 km dual toll way to by pass mount rosser is to be completed in ja by the end of this year , and if things look up with tourism bauxite and food processing , the present highway through ST.catherine will be expanded to central Manchester soon and eventually ,probably by the 2020s will reach Montego Bay.The total length would be around 230 km

NIDCO website

Hi Trini1, You were asking about the Gov't of the Rep. of Trinidad and Tobago, Ministry of Works website. The National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO) website contains the information you have been requesting.

Any word on when the final phase of the interchange project is supposed to begin? It's been over two months since they opened the second phase. Like, Trini1 I always check NIDCO's website but they never have anything substantial (imagine they have up now that the final phase has been completed).

And any news on the start date of interchange at El Socorro/Aranguez would be much appreciated as well. If I'm not mistaken, the contract was awarded to Vinci earlier this year.
