Thanks for the update Trini. Do you know if they started the north to south overpass at the Uriah Butler interchange?

Work starts on $170m Aranguez Flyover
Alicia Llanos Published: 22 Dec 2009 Construction of the Aranguez Flyover, associated ramps and parallel roadways, will cost taxpayers close to $170 million. This was confirmed yesterday by Minister of Works and Transport Colm Imbert, during the National Infrastructure Development Co Ltd (Nidco) sod-turning ceremony for the structure on Churchill-Roosevelt Highway. Imbert said the flyover was a continuity of the Churchill-Roosevelt/ Uriah Butler Interchange Package B project. He said the project was contracted to the international construction company, Vinci Construction Grands Projects, at a cost of $166,672,249.73. Imbert said the international firm brought with them their first-world technology. Local contracting firm Junior Sammy Construction was also contracted to work with Vinci. He said the cost encompassed the design and construction of a 54-metre long, single-span composite deck bridge, with two associated ramps. “The development of modern road infrastructure will play a vital role in the achievement of developed country status. “The Government has taken a decision to develop, as a priority, in the shortest possible time, an appropriate and modern highway system in our country, along with improvements in areas of basic infrastructure, such as water, electricity and communications.” Imbert said objective of the flyover was to accommodate the free flow of traffic on the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway. The flyover would result, also, in removal of traffic lights at both the Aranguez and El Socorro intersections, through construction of associated parallel roads on the north and south sides of the highway. He said the parallel roads were being constructed by the Programme for Upgrading Roads Efficiently (Pure) of the Ministry of Works and Transport. Imbert said he would work to ensure that the project was completed by the beginning of 2011, within the allocated budget. Meanwhile, the ministry will next year begin plans to widen the Beetham Highway from the National Petroleum building to the financial complex on the waterfront. Imbert could not give an estimated cost of this project. More info: $2.8 billion to date Imbert says to date the Ministry of Works and Transport had undertaken almost 3,500 road improvement projects, at an approximate cost of $2.8 billion. “This pursuit of improved road infrastructure is part of the Government’s drive to strengthen the economic and social well-being of communities, in accordance with Vision 2020.” Imbert said some upcoming projects of the National Network of Highways Programmes included: 1. Uriah Butler Highway—$24m—by December, 2009 2. Solomon Hochoy Highway (Chaguanas)—$3.5m—by December, 2009, 3. Solomon Hochoy Highway (Gasparillo Overpass), Charles Street, Bonne Aventure roads and adjacent local roads—$25m—by December, 2009, 4. Western Main Road (between Diego Martin River and Sunset Drive)—$10.2m—by December, 2009, 5. Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (between Wallerfield Pillars and Antigua Road)—$64.2m—December, 2009, 6. Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (Barataria to Aranguez)—$15.5m—completed. http://guardian.co.tt/news/general/2...anguez-flyover |

You're right Trini1. After this project is completed then they would move on to Package C which is the last phase of the CRH/UBH interchange project.

Govt to construct $15b highway network
Akile Simon Published: 28 Jan 2010 Akile Simon Tenders have been invited as the Government prepares to embark on its $15 billion major highway development programme across the country. Works and Transport Minister Colm Imbert made this public as he delivered the feature address at the opening of the just refurbished PTSC Sangre Grande Passenger Terminal Facility on Tuesday. According to Imbert, tenders were invited last week for the construction of a new highway from San Fernando to Mayaro. Work on the highway is expected to begin by July this year. Imbert said within the next few months, two more packages for the extension of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway to Point Fortin and the extension of the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway to Manzanilla, with a new ring road around Sangre Grande, will be put out for tender. The new highways include the long-awaited Churchill-Roosevelt Highway between O’Meara Road and Santa Rosa Heights. Later this year, Imbert said, tenders are to be invited for the construction of a causeway from Port-of-Spain to Chaguaramas; a new East-West highway to link Curepe to Princes Town and a highway from the Uriah Butler to Trincity and Piarco. He said: “All these highway contracts are scheduled for award by the end of 2010, with actual commencement of construction of the first new highway, the San Fernando to Mayaro highway scheduled for July of this year, with the other five highway packages following shortly thereafter.” Imbert said consultations with residents who will be affected by the extension of the CR highway from Wallerfield to Manzanilla and the Mayaro to Princes Town highway, have already been completed. He said consultations on the other highways will take place later in the year. The minister disclosed also that 85 new PTSC buses are being assembled abroad with delivery expected within the next few months at a cost of $65 million. I still don't know why they dont give the Solomon Hochoy Highway extension prority! This should start first then the reat follow. I would also like to see overhead signs on the highways proir to interchanges/flyovers/underpasses signalling the distance to the turnoff and which turnoff to take etc. but thats HIGHLY UNLIKELY. I suppose we should be happy that they are out for tender. |

Just a few projects to look out for in the upcoming months:
1) Dualling the CRH from O'meara to Pillars - this would make the entire length of the CRH a highway 2) Addition of a Third Lane on both sides of carriageway on entering POS - this would mean there would be three lanes on Wrightson Rd from Powergen all the way to Beetham 3) Addition of a Third Lane from Trincity to Golden Grove east bound 4) Widening Saddle Rd from two lanes to four from Rapsey St to Palm Suite Hotel. |

Well they started the dualling of the CRH. Only preliminary works but works nontheless. I also believe that some work has begun on the POS Access Project but nothing would really be seen because it is going on inside the PTSC compound.

I think they should use some alpha numeric system to name the all the roads and differentiate between Highway, Primary and secondary roads.
