Thanks a lot, Nightwolf, great post. I must say that i know little about Slatina, but now you've made me interested. It seems like a nice city.

I'm glad you like it, Slatina has a lot more to offer in terms of culture, history and architecture but most of the buildings in the historical part are not yet restored, there are plans to restore them but so far not much....

And I want to ask everybody here to not post pictures of communist apartment blocks, shopping malls, or glass buildings because nobody wants to see those, they all look the same in the whole world, ugly, why would someone want to see those?

And a few more pics of Slatina:

County council building.

Police headquarter

"Plaiurile Oltului” folclor organization headquarter

Museum of art.

A another pic from center.

Breaks my heart to see unrestored buildings...

It's really strange that it has so much heritage for such a small town in the first half of the 20th century.

Nice pics

Yes and the current administration knows how to appreciate culture and realized the tourism potential of the historical center. This is how they plan on restoring the historical center:

Photoshop, they brought architects to choose the color of each building and the street furniture, hopefuly they will materialize their and my dreams. It should have been done by now but there is a battle between the political parties here so not much has been done so far because one party is stalling the project.

And a another one with the National Bank headquarter at night:

And this house has nice architecture, just don't mind the horses, they're just taking a walk

Nice pics
We kept 90% of the historical buildings, I think Slatina has 50-60% of the Sibiu's historical buildings number, and most have good architecture, huge tourism potential, just restore the historical buildings and demolish all communist blocks which have been build right in the historical center.

Many cities from muntenia and moldova have destroyed their historical buildings, we as those in Transivania kept them.

A water mill, you can't say our mayor doesn't have good taste when it comes to arranging the city.

A water pool of rock.

Some benches in the Eugen Ionescu park:

More pic from Pitesti park

From city

Eu mi-l doream in CT fiindca mi-a fost cel mai bun amic pe timpul facultatii, dar macar asa am ocazia sa gust de cateva ori pe an viata de Slobozia !

Imi place foarte mult cum s-a facut reabilitarea in Slatina. Centrul istoric in renovare, fonduri europene, commies rezolvate ok.
