The Spinnaker Tower began construction in 2001, and was completed in 2005, with delays the whole way through. The tower is by far the tallest structure in Portsmouth, and the tallest accessible tower in Britain outside London. The tower was designed to represent sails billowing in the wind. The design was accomplished using two huge sweeping steel arcs, which give the tower its spinnaker sail design. From the top, visitors have a 320 degree view of Portsmouth, and can see up to 23 miles away.
In 2006, the tower won the RICS Project of the year award and the RICS Regeneration award.

It does not fit into a British city at all. It would have fit into some city by the Mediterranean Sea in my opininion. But all that doesn't change that I find this tower really ugly. 2.5/10

This is what I'm looking for. Most of the TV and observation towers are so boring, but not this. This tower has a style, the architect has a courage.
