All three of the levels (arrivals, commercial and departures) making up the new CTB.

The main entrance of the CTB.

The viewing deck at the top, down to Terminal A2 Arrivals at the bottom.

Terminal B check-in counters for mainly SAA at the moment. Air Mauritius ad Qantas also use Terminal B and a few more will move across from Terminal A later on.

Looking out towards the drop-off roadway.

Overall the flow works well. It will take a while for the general public to get used to where each airline checks in etc, but overall I think it is a massive improvement.

This is SUCH a big improvement. And soon the highspeed rail link will connect you to the Capital and Johannesburg. Its brighter, lighter and much much much better than the old, cramped, dark, dingy, irritating apartheid bunker.

why do you have to mention apartheid?? for the future good of South Africa please stop mentioning apartheid just for the fact of mentioning it, especially on an international thread. it just reminds the world of a horrible past that we no longer want to be associated with! thanks

Uuuumm..... ok????

What's wrong with mentioning apartheid? We shouldn't be ashamed of our history. We need to talk about it and learn from it. Never to not mention it and pretend like it never happened. In South Africa, we use the word quite freely, becuase its a time we must learn from and get past. And Jakes1 is right its a great improvement from the old dingy apartheid bunker (yes apartheid actually did have an architectural style lol). The new airport shows the new South Africa: open, full of potential and bright

we shouldnt be ashamed of our history?? is that a joke, because i think any history which includes the segregation of a people based on race is pretty shameful. Its like saying germany shouldnt be ashamed of nazisizm, and im pretty sure the general population are! i am ashamed of parts of our history because it puts a very bad light on the country, and will continue to be ashamed of future policies that will do the same! anyway, nice airport, a good upgrade

Very spacious and modern. It's really evolved into a beautiful airport.

Hahahahahaha you know what I meant SAdude. I meant that we shouldn't push it away and pretend like it never happened. Rather we should recognize it and learn from it, and hope that future generations won't repeat the injustices of the past.

I decided to reopen this thread since OR Tambo Airport is the busiest airport in Sub-Saharan Africa and it deserves to have a thread here. I also included Lanseria International Airport in here as well for discussion purposes. Enjoy
