SSC Highways & Autobahns Wiki

I couldn't find the statistics thread and I think this idea deserves a separate thread because it might a mile stone in organising knowledge and data about roads across the World !

I have some expirience with Wikipedia and I found pretty clever the way of road articles and I think it is or will be quite easy for everyone who use a computer on a daily basis

I have some questions and help from other users is welcome as well

I have several questions about Wiki

1. Where to start ? I tried to find more info on Wikipedia but I ended up only with definitons of Wiki and its history

2. Is it different to editing and altering articles on normal Wikipedia ? Does it requires more detailed knowledge of web programming ?

3. Do you need own server for it ?

2.I have edited on a non-wikipedia wiki and it is the same or exremely similar.

3.I belive so.

On the Dutch wegenwiki we have 2.390 articles at the moment, which, we think, do not suit within the Wikipedia guidelines, too technical or otherwise not suitable because of the writing style.

If you want to copy wikipedia, it might be easier to just stick to wikipedia.

I don't want to copy Wikipedia

Wikipedia in Road articles if often too brief or often not up to date, Presentation of actual route could be much better.
