Belgrade-Minsk cooperation in public transport field...

Quote:
Serbia considers purchasing Belarusian buses

MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) - Belgrade is interested in buying Belarusian buses, Mayor of the Serbian capital Belgrade Sinisa Mali said during the solemn ceremony of laying a capsule in the foundation of the fourth phase of the project to build the multipurpose complex Mayak Minska ("Lighthouse of Minsk"), BelTA has learned.

"Within the next 15 days the Director of the Belgrade transport enterprise will come to Minsk and compile a plan to purchase new buses and modernize the trolleybuses," said Sinisa Mali. The Serbian side is also considering the possibility of building a subway in Belgrade by joint efforts.

“A Belgrade delegation arrived in Minsk to intensify the cooperation between the two capitals, the foundation of which was laid down during a visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Serbia last year,” the Belgrade Mayor said. Back then Minsk and Belgrade signed a cooperation agreement.

In addition to the transport area, the two cities are planning to develop cooperation in culture. Minsk is expecting a delegation of the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce to discuss holding Belgrade's days in Minsk in spring 2016. "The more people communicate, the more ideas we have. This, in turn, will make a major contribution to the cooperation between our countries,” said Sinisa Mali. “And, of course, it is logical that the two capitals are carriers of this cooperation: the more we cooperate, the closer we connect our two peoples and our two cultures,” the Belgrade Mayor noted.

"There are very few countries that Serbia considers as brotherly. Belarus is one of such countries," said the Mayor of Belgrade.

Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets, in turn, stressed that the parties had a meaningful discussion, highlighted common goals and approaches to different activities. He expressed the hope that all the agreements reached in Minsk will be implemented soon.

Everywhere else, level buses without stairs are the norm these days. It's funny Belgrade should still make it hard for handicapped and the old to take public buses when this is easily remedied with a low floor.

the Pictures above show that the there is a large low-floor area, only the back is not. You just have to put the engine somewhere.

What's the logic to change to the blue-yellow livery few years ago and now to go back to the old livery?

Blue-yellow was a color of 92 new MAN buses that Japan donated to Belgrade that were in that color. Because they were majority in that time, older buses were painted like them and that became official color. But it is disgusting and have no sense for belgrade buses, unlike this because this have colors from Belgrade coat of arms and everybody likes those colors here.

There were small changes in color choices, and that (red-cream color) will be the color just for city owned buses, buses from other operators that will eventually work as one single operator (Arriva probably) will be completely red.

Btw, new buses are almost complete

For the last two decades typical European citybuses have had 100% low floor with the engine at the back, e.g. Iveco, SOR, Solaris:

What you have there is a backward design!

That bus is produced mostly for suburbs and villages around Belgrade, with roads in very bad condition. Any 100% low floor bus on those roads decomposes in less then 5 years. It is more important to have better chassis on back side, but in any case, I think that they could make one step less for the same purpose.

This is just political project, and we are the victims of that. Ikarbus have 100% low-flor bus. They made second generation for Arriva two years ago and this year 5 more for City of Novi Sad.
They are good buses, but first generation was also political project and they were made so fast that half of them broke on there way to garage and those buses are devastated.

They think (GSP and city officials) that if they buy a bus with Mercedes Benz parts, that those buses will last forever, also half of Serbia believe that Mercedes is god so this is win-win for them,
but horrific for us. But, when you see in what buses we are riding now, those will be ok for couple of years until GSP destroyes them
