(Illustration) The mayor of Belgrade, Sinisa Mali, has received in today’s discussion with the ambassador of France, Kristin Moro, confirmation that French companies are inetersted in investing in Belgrade, first of all for concession of the Nikola Tesla airport and for metro construction, the city administration reported.

Mali outlined that by the end of this and in early next year, smart-plan will be developed which will define real needs and the design of the future first three lines of metro.

He presented to the ambassador of France big PPP projects which Belgrade is planning to implement in the next period.

French company Dalkia is inetersted in participating in PPP project in water and supply system while Suez Environment and Veolia have already expressed interest in the Vinca waste management project, it was stated in the announcement.

Mali opening of a few industrial zones more in Belgrade and new Law on investments which will enable city authorities as ell to provide incentives to investors.

Railfan Association in Serbia has some proposals for rail transit.


On that map taken from bueker.net I have drawn proposed new railroads or doubletracking by red line. Black line is "Loop of tram 2", symbolic city center.


On that map taken from Google Earth, I have drawn proposed S-bahn network. Outside S-bahn service, there is a need for regional and IC trains.


On that map, there is a proposal for first phase of urban rail network, based on existing double track railroads. At present, we have only line 1, with 15-30 min headway.

There is no clear plan of decision makers to extend this system enywhere exept to make spur-line from "Belgrade Center" to Resnik. According to the results of our polls, official plan would atract 7% of present bus riders, line to Novi Beograd and Zemun 39%, and line through the Vukov Spomenik 71%.


Line two is our proposal to save downtown section of "Old Belgrade Railway Junction", and include it in network of rail rapid transit. Our proposal is tram-train type of light railway. That proposal was our statement about removing the main station from downtown to build highrises on that place. There is our render.

When we published our proposal, our prime-ministar publicly stated that we are the enemies of development. Of there is a interest, we could translate some of our articles in English.

It's 20 years since the opening of Belgrade's Vukov Spomenik station, used today by the urban/suburban train line. The platform is 220m long, and the escalator is 60m long.

Regarding the drawing of the station I personally doubt, that there are any prelimanery works like tunnels etc. have been done for future metro-line. The metro-line would be beneath the street with tram, but probably above the railway. So, it would not be necessary to build something for Metro.

VOZILA STARA I PO 35 GODINA

NABAVKA zglobnih tramvaja iz tadašnje Čehoslovačke počela je početkom osamdesetih. Dve decenije GSP je obnavljao vozni park tramvajima "tatra KT4", poznatim "katama" koji su dugački 18,1 i široki 2,2 metra, kapaciteta 195 putnika.

Under the street with trams on that drawing there is a "concret box" for future metro station. Another "concrete box" is under "Prokop" railway station, and that is all from Belgrade Metro.

I can think of a couple of reasons why Belgrade does not have a metro system: The population of Belgrade isn't large enough to support a rail rapid transit system (1.65 million people within its city limits). Also, I think some areas may not be dense enough for a metro station.
