Hi.

I remember that in Belgrade have finished one underground station with full metro standarts, it's like museum of unfinished metro as I understund.

Do you know some website, where can see more pics ?

Eh, if Belgrade's metro depended solely on Russians, we'd probably have five lines by now. But no, its our own bickering politicians that are taking their sweet time (100 years, give or take) to decide what kind of metro Belgrade needs

Hopefully, this year will be "year of the metro" - when first real decisions are made and first contracts are signed. And yes, Russians are still very interested in helping out with the project.

As for the budget, I think about 80-100 million euros, or close to ~10% of the 2010 budget, is earmarked for public transport. That is, of course, solely to cover the operational costs while most of the new tram/trolley & bus purchases, as well as funding for projects such as track reconstruction is coming out of various credit lines and not from the budget.

As for a tram track reconstruction, while a lot has been done in the last few years, a lot still remains ...

How about Vukov Spomenik underground station? Does it play an important role in public transport in Belgrade or is it just a decoration?

The trains that run that tunnel are having a major overhaul right now. They will run on 15 minute intervals across the city and people can cross from one side of the city to another in 10 minutes.

Crazy Serb--Excellent profile of Belgrade's public transit.

Even without a metro its very impressive.

Hope the subway eventually gets built too!

@bayviews....Decision about type of Metro we can expect in March, but Mayer of Belgrade says that he wants experts to dicide not politicians, but huge majority of Belgrade cityzans expect hevy Metro with modernised project from 76' or at least same capacity as Beovoz(S-Bahn or Regional Metro which Belgrade have had from 80's (picture above ),so in that case if you come in Belgrade and ride with Beovoz(S-Bahn)you would feel like you're in U-Bahn,wierd
